Meet the Team 

Product Operations is part of Supply Chain Operations (SCO), driving New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Lifecycle Management from launch through End of Life (EOL). The team partners with Design Engineering early in development to ensure manufacturability, testability, and smooth transitions into production. We’re collaborative, highly technical, and focused on solving complex problems that connect design and manufacturing at scale.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer to join the Transceiver Module Group (TMGBU). In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust test solutions for our advanced optical transceiver products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability for our optical components.

Your Impact 
As a Test Development Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the development and implementation of test strategy for new products. You will own the software development and test design of new product platforms, ensuring they are delivered on time and within quality specifications. You will serve as a product lead, engaging with engineering teams to gain in-depth system hardware knowledge and driving Design for Test (DFT) and DFx standards. Your work directly impacts manufacturing yield, field reliability, and the overall success of Cisco's global product deployments. 

  •  Design, build, and deploy automated test platforms for Cisco's global manufacturing partners. 
  • Develop robust test automation scripts using Python to streamline functional testing. 
  • Generate product-specific test plans and drive comprehensive test coverage based on product requirements. 
  • Analyze manufacturing yield issues and field escapes; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to ensure test continuity. 
  • Manage stakeholders and partners (CM/ODM/OEM) to provide Design for Test (DFT) feedback and ensure alignment on technical requirements. 
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gain in-depth system hardware knowledge for new product introductions. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 4+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years, or PhD with 1+ year of related experience. 
  • Proven experience in software development and electrical design for automated test equipment. 
  • Strong proficiency in Python for test automation script development. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on manufacturing yield issues and field escapes. 
  • Experience in applying DFx (Design for Excellence) standards and providing DFT feedback. 

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing stakeholders in a global manufacturing environment (CM/ODM/OEM). 
  • 3+ years of test engineering experience with optical transceivers or optical networking modules (SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP, QSFP28, QSFP-DD, OSFP, CFP, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience testing to industry standards such as IEEE 802.3, ITU-T, OIF-CEI, MSA specifications (SFF-8636, CMIS), and Ethernet/Fibre Channel protocols
  • Experience with optical/RF test equipment including BERT (Bit Error Rate Testers), optical power meters, optical spectrum analyzers (OSA), sampling/real-time
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems of diverse scope. 
  • Proven track record in leading projects and mentor junior team members. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership. 
  • Experience in hardware/software integration and system-level troubleshooting.
