Living Goods endeavours to improve access to essential healthcare services in underserved regions, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. We empower Community Health Workers (CHWs) with digital tools that enable them to deliver door-to-door care. CHWs use a mobile app to track pregnancies, diagnose and treat common infectious diseases like malaria and pneumonia, monitor disease outbreaks, and follow up with families. Real-time data also supports performance monitoring and impact assessment. By integrating tech-based solutions into community health systems, Living Goods fosters better health outcomes, demonstrating the power of digital health in transforming healthcare delivery in resource-constrained settings.
The Opportunity:
The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys and maintains secure, scalable and interoperable digital health software. • Design and optimise database schemas, queries and data pipelines to ensure data integrity, performance and scalability.
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming and technical design discussions to uphold code quality and engineering standards.
2. Testing, Deployment and System Support
  • Write and maintain automated unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and support quality assurance teams during system, performance and user acceptance testing.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and infrastructure-as-code to enable reliable, repeatable deployments across development, staging and production environments.
  • Monitor system performance, availability and logs; troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve defects and production incidents within agreed service levels.
  • Support the review and validation of software delivered by technology partners to confirm adherence to approved specifications, coding standards and security requirements.
  • Identify technical debt, performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities, and recommend and implement remediation measures.
3. Documentation and Collaboration
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, including API specifications, system design notes, deployment guides and operational runbooks.
  • Work closely with solution architecture, product management, project management, quality assurance, cybersecurity and data management teams to ensure coordinated delivery.
  • Engage with technology and development partners to align on technical approaches, integration requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Contribute to agile ceremonies, technical governance forums and continuous improvement of engineering practices and standards
