Summary

Teledyne Test Services located in Marion Massachusetts is looking for a Fulltime Machinist to work independently, under general supervision, assignment planning, layout, set-up, operating and making tool adjustments on various types of manual, numerically controlled, CNC mills and lathes, and auxiliary equipment. Works from drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include cutting and shaping of various materials to precision dimensions.  Ability to set up and operate manual and CNC Mill and Lathes machines, edit programs, load tools, and inspect tolerance of parts in a shop environment. Must be dependable and able to work alongside others. Tasks and assignments tend to be general but may involve complex and/or non-routine assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Experience running any of the following machines: Accu-rite Millpwr, Bridgeport- Romi CNC Lathe, Proto Trak – TMC-7 Trak Mill.
  • Reviews and verifies dimensions and tolerances in drawings to determine best setup and work operation sequences.
  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools or materials onto machines.
  • Manufactures jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, machine tools, cutting tools, gauges, and production tooling used in manufacturing processes.
  • Utilizes knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance to perform assignments.
  • Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.
  • Identifies and repairs minor machine malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Confers with supervisors, production personnel, programmers, engineers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications.
  • Installs dies on machines using clamps, bolts and other hand tools.
  • Work with various materials, including plastics, aluminum, steel and high-temp alloys

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has limited supervisory responsibilities, providing technical leadership to lower-level CNC Machinists/Machinists including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization’s policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 5 + Years’ experience setting up and running manual and CNC machines.

Education and/or Experience:  High school diploma, general education degree (GED) and equivalent knowledge gained through formal education including vocational training. Typically requires a minimum of 5+ years of machine shop experience.  Ability to use shop mathematics, drawings and measuring tools.

Language Skills:   Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills   Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:   Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system.

  

Salary Range:

$50,600.00-$67,500.000

Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
