ROLE
KMRG, LLC (KMRG) is a federal services company that hires talented professionals to support Government agencies and the communities they serve. We are hiring a Technical Writer to support the United States Capitol Police (USCP), Office of Information Systems (OIS), Information Resources Management Division (IRMD). In this role, you will prepare, edit, maintain, and publish technical documents, manuals, guides, training materials, reports, and internal procedural documentation while coordinating with subject matter experts and supporting document review and approval workflows.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Documentation & Publishing
  • Prepare, edit, and maintain technical documents, including manuals, guides, training materials, reports, and procedural documentation
  • Review and update technical content to keep documents accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards
  • Organize and format technical information for clear, usable publication and distribution
  • Support document publishing processes and preparation of final review-ready materials
  • Help revise OIS internal procedural documentation as assigned
  • Maintain accurate document files and supporting materials throughout drafting and revision
Document Review & Workflow
  • Coordinate document review, updates, routing, and required approvals
  • Interface with the Document Workflow System to support proper routing and completion of required sign-offs
  • Track document status through review and approval processes
  • Incorporate approved comments and revisions into updated document versions
  • Maintain consistency across related technical and procedural documents
SME Coordination & Content Accuracy
  • Work with subject matter experts to gather, clarify, and validate technical information
  • Ensure technical content accurately reflects source information and operational requirements
  • Reconcile comments and requested updates while preserving document consistency
  • Support clear communication between document owners, reviewers, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare documentation that is complete and ready for Government review
Project Documentation Support
  • Gain and maintain awareness of multiple OIS projects to support related documentation needs
  • Coordinate documentation activities and timelines with Government stakeholders as assigned
  • Deliver accurate, complete technical documentation in the required Microsoft Office or PDF format

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of technical writing and desktop publishing experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
  • Strong technical writing, editing, and desktop publishing skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain manuals, guides, training materials, reports, and procedural documentation
  • Experience coordinating with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to support document review, revision, routing, publishing, and approval workflows
  • Ability to work within a Document Workflow System and maintain organized document versions and status information

  • United States Capitol Police (USCP), Southwest Washington, DC 20003

TELEWORK
  • Full-time onsite for the first two months; afterward, positions are generally onsite at least 2 days per week with up to 3 telework days per week, subject to USCP approval and operational needs. USCP may increase or cancel telework temporarily or permanently.

SECURITY / ACCESS
  • Ability to successfully complete a USCP criminal history check and fingerprinting before performing onsite work
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain a USCP identification/access badge for onsite duties
  • Ability to complete USCP building access forms and other required onboarding/access processing
  • Ability to protect sensitive and proprietary USCP information and comply with applicable confidentiality requirements
