You would become a part of a smaller team within our Nordic Connectivity & Products Division, working out of our Danish office in Taastrup, in close cooperation with our colleagues in Sweden and Finland. Connectivity & Products Division focuses on product safety and has around 170 team members across the Nordics.

We are now looking for a new TECHNICAL SPECIALIST to help build up the advisory services part of our business line within Scandinavia. This is a new position, and you can have the opportunity to help develop the role.

In this position, you will work with safety and performance testing of various consumer products and materials, familiarizing yourself with relevant legislation and requirements of consumer products and professional products and tasks related to testing. Consumer products include a wide range of products sold to consumers, such as, but not limited to, toys, food contact materials, homeware and home textiles & apparel. Food products are not in our scope. 

This is a hybrid position that combines both sales activities and expertise work. 

You will follow up on incoming customer enquieries from the Scandinavian market, as well as arrange meetings with potential clients on product compliance. You may also be asked to assist in mapping and identifying potential Scandinavian customers in cooperation with the Nordics Sales Team and local management.

As a specialist, the work includes investigating applicable legal requirements for various products (for example food contact materials), preparation of tests plans, advisory services, coordinating testing, etc.). You will take care of test plans for mechanical and chemical properties of the product or material in question, and coordinate testing across our global SGS laboratory network. 

You will manage product safety projects comprehensively from handling the initial client meetings, clarifying the requirements, giving quotations to the preparation of test reports. You will work with an international network of experts and monitor changes in legislation and standardization issues related to compliance. You will also take care of customer contact in matters related to testing and be involved in the development of our services.

You are required to have a suitable education with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in an applicable field (e.g. biotechnology, materials technology or food science or similar). We also expect that you will have a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience working with product compliance. Chemical understanding and knowledge of chemical legislation, food contact materials legislation, consumer product safety requirements and standards is a key requirement in the position.

You need good communication and co-operational skills and fluent Danish and English, both oral and written. You also need a persistent and active approach to project work. We are looking for a person, who can review and understand legal documents as well as chemical and performance product requirements and turn them into “easy to understand” information for our clients.
