The Opportunity:

Biotage is seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Specialist to drive the growth of our Analytical product portfolio across Japan. This customer-facing role combines technical expertise with consultative sales activities, supporting customers in the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, food, and environmental industries to optimize their analytical workflows while driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Achieve sales targets by providing technical consultation on sample preparation and analytical workflows.

  • Identify customer needs and recommend tailored Biotage solutions through consultative sales.

  • Develop and execute account plans for key customers to drive long-term business growth.

  • Support method development, conduct product demonstrations, and deliver customer training.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop scientific content, including application notes, webinars, and technical presentations.

  • Represent Biotage at conferences, exhibitions, customer seminars, and other marketing events.

  • Work closely with Application Specialists, Product Managers, Customer Support, and other cross-functional teams to support customer success and business growth.

  • Maintain customer opportunities and sales activities in the CRM system while providing regular sales forecasts and market feedback.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline. BSc candidates with relevant industry experience will also be considered.

  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS/MS, and analytical sample preparation techniques, ideally gained within a pharmaceutical, CRO, environmental, food safety, or analytical laboratory environment.

  • Previous experience in technical sales, field applications, or customer-facing scientific roles is advantageous, with a strong problem-solving ability and commercial mindset.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a customer-focused environment.

  • Self-motivated and willing to travel for customer visits, conferences, and training.

Language requirements:

  • Japanese – Native

  • English – Conversational level required; business-level proficiency preferred.)

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 20–40% domestic travel within Japan. Occasional overseas travel for training, regional meetings, and conferences.

Skills Required
