Roles and Responsibilities
The controls TLE is an engineering Technical Leader for Services Projects with overall responsibility for technical scope execution, design and implementation into production of controls system projects, covering nuclear steam, steam, gas, and hydro turbine types. When assigned to a project, the TLE will be responsible for technical risk identification and mitigation across complete controls scope. The overall goal of the TLE is to ensure projects are executed successfully.
- Technical ownership from commercial inquiry to customer commercial operation for high risk and complex projects as directed by leadership
- Support the commercial teams for technical inputs needed to generate customer proposals that ensure we have the means to successfully execute projects if they become an order
- Support and influence new product development and product sustaining requirements definition
- Drive overall architecture, top level design, verification, validation, and commissioning requirement to be used by global functional engineers
- Ensure adequate system safety, function, performance, interface, reliability, and maintainability requirements are met
- Support and influence comprehensive test plans for system verification and validation, and customer system tests, site installation, startup, and commissioning
- Coordinate flow down of internal and external customer requirements/tasks
- Support Project Engineers in customer discussions/reviews as needed
- Drive consistent solutions across all controls scope
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to produce high-quality and cost-effective product designs using solid modeling computer aided design (CAD) software
- Creation and maintenance of material masters and bills of material in the business information system (SAP)
- Provide customer support related to products
- Ensure compliance with internal and industry technical regulations, standards, and other regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal and external customers
- Enforce the application of controls design standards and practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of design experience in turbine mechanical controls engineering
- Strong understanding of turbine system operations and integration with other systems
- Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in design & application of GE power generation controls, electrical, cyber, mechanical, or accessory systems
- Nuclear power generation controls or plant operational experience
- Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles to analyze, design and troubleshoot mechanical systems associated with control system retrofits for steam, gas and hydro turbines
- Strong experience in power generation project, working with customers, project management, and/or EPCs
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills to the team and business leaders
- Demonstrated systems level thinking
- Experience in a matrix organization structure, working cross-functionally
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve technical issues
- Familiarity with use of Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS and/or SDRC I-Deas
- Field engineering experience with turbine mechanical retrofits a strong plus
- Experience with proposal generation and market level pricing for turbine controls retrofit opportunities
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Unigraphics, Solid Works or similar solid modeling design software
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems design
- Proficiency in business computer applications including Microsft Access, Visio, and Office Suite
- Proficiency in programming in MATLAB, Visual Basic, Excel Macros or other software programming platform

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $124,500.00 and $207,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
