Technical Documentation Specialist

Job Description

The Technical Documentation Specialist applies design principles, visual design skills, and corporate branding theories to create MiTek software documentation. Technical Documentation Specialists generate technical documentation for the MiTek software suite and automation products by applying user-centered design principles. Documentation includes but is not limited to, help and training videos, installation manuals, training manuals, user manuals, release notes, help files, technical support materials, procedures using computer-based multi-media tools, computer-based instructional material, and web-based content.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

• Generate technical documentation, including writing text, creating graphics, taking digital photographs/screenshots, incorporating them into the document, and editing digital photographs/screenshots to incorporate callouts and text.
• Develop computer-based instructional materials such as video and other computer-generated content.
• Interview engineering, homebuilding, modeling, production, technical support, and technical sales personnel to determine installation and usage instructions and procedures.
• Develop and maintain web-based content, including web pages, online manuals, and FTP folders.
• Maintain familiarity with MiTek, industry, and governmental standards and regulations applicable to software and automation products for inclusion in technical documentation.
• Review documentation and update, maintain, and distribute as needed.
• Follow all documentation standards.
• Maintain repository and archive of all technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Related Field required
• 1-2 Years of related experience creating instructional content required
• Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
• Able to use Microsoft Office Applications

Additional Requirements

• 10% May travel to other MiTek facilities and/or customer sites as required.
