Job Description
In addition to technical writing duties, this position will work closely with the Technical Communications Manager to develop the documents needed for various teams’ products. You will manage each documentation project, working with our Product teams (Trek Road and City/Hybrid), Marketing, Customer Care, Service, and Project Management teams to develop best-in-class documentation from concept to delivery.
Position Description:
We are seeking a talented Technical Writer/Illustrator to join our team.
Talent, communication, and organization are the key elements to this role.
- Work with our Product teams to design, create, and revise various types of engineering and technical documents (manuals, bulletins, instructions)
- Create illustrations from assembly drawings
- Manage your TechComm projects for document project
- Be proactive in the editing and proofing of technical documents
- Speak up with new ideas or new methods for document creation/management
- Work with Web Production to maintain Trek’s website library of documents
- Speak to our audience in an informed, knowledgeable, and conversational tone
You will also work with our Legal/Compliance Team on an on-going basis to ensure our documents cover Trek’s legal requirements.
- Degree in Engineering or in English with Technical Communications emphasis
- Proficient in Adobe suite of apps: InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop
- Early adopter of leading-edge communication and web technology
- Ability to work with others in a collaborative environment
- Bicycle knowledge and industry experience a plus – but not required
- A working awareness of liability and copyright issues
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and standard Trek practices
