As the Tech Lead, you will provide expert technical leadership to a team of engineers and collaborate closely with key business stakeholders. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, ensuring best practices are followed, and guiding the team through complex delivery cycles.
In this role, you will report directly to the Development Team Lead, while maintaining a strategic reporting link with the Head of Architecture to ensure alignment with the broader technical roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
Technical domain authority & accountability.
- Responsibility for the production and documentation of technical solutions and accountability for those technical solutions.
- Propose and present technical solutions for reviewing to the Head of Architecture and peers, seeking necessary approval from the Head of Architecture.
- Providing hands on technical leadership to teams collaboratively to solve complex problems.
- Shared ownership and responsibility for the technical roadmap, work collaboratively with teams to develop technical designs 2 – 4 sprints ahead of teams of work items being planned into sprints.
- Enact technical governance, collaboratively setting non-functional requirements, technical and security standards while monitoring via automation and governance forums.
- Ensure adherence to secure development practices, agreed development and quality standards, decisions, guidance and policies.
- Act as the technical lead and point of contact on major incidents, ensuring teams reach pragmatic resolutions quickly as possible for customers but ensuring root cause analysis is undertaken with work committed to resolving underlying issues ensuring problems do not repeat
Research & Development
- Conduct proof of concepts individually and with teams to prove out technical designs and solutions.
- Consolidate designs and proof of concepts into reports that can be digested by a range of stakeholders.
- Log technical solution decisions such as Architectural Decision Records for clarity of technical vision and enablement of governance of decisions going forwards.
- Ensure technical radars are developed and maintained in collaboration with other technical leads to ensure we have agreed technology stacks and processes for onboarding new technologies or processes.
Technical Consultanc
- Deliver solution architecture by making sure that software and infrastructure systems are aligned with our commercial targets, acting as a bridge between technical departments.
- Act as a technical point of contact to the wider business, aiding product, and business leaders with understanding of the technical domain in a digestible manner.
- Ensure that our systems are technically audited, ensuring effective documentation to be able to collaborate effectively internally and externally.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Skills Required:
- Hands-on technical experience the following technologies:
- Web Development
- Microsoft SQL.
- .NET Framework and .NET Core (C#).
- Web API/WebForms/MVC.
- Angular.
Mobile Development
- Native or Hybrid.
CI/CD
- Git Source Control and branching strategies.
- Pipeline technologies preferably Azure DevOps YAML pipelines.
Azure resources such as:
- Azure Application Insights.
- Azure Key Vaults.
- Azure Managed Redis.
- Azure Blob Storage.
Demonstratable experience or understanding of the following paradigms:
- Architecture artifact creation & management.
- Architectural Patterns:
- Microservices.
- Monoliths.
- Service Oriented Architecture.
- DDD.
Deployment patterns
- Blue/Green, Canary etc.
- Monitoring & Observability.
- Testing Pyramid.
- Clean Code.
- Data center infrastructure.
Educational/Professional Qualification & Minimum Experience Required:
- A degree in computer science or relevant industry experience.
- Hands on professional software development experience of 7+ years.
- Preference for experience as a solution architect or a technical lead handling solution architecture for 2+ years
