Position Summary:
Assists the instructors in making the student presentation roster based on predetermined research thematic areas, grading, answering questions by email and online, and other basic course management tasks. Assist with organization of course materials on myCourses. Assist in the conduct of interactive lab-sessions. Grade exams and assist in grading assignments and presentations. The TA will be expected to compile the feedback scores for the student presentations submitted by the peers and binarize them. Provide assistance to students on conceptual clarification and communicate areas of confusion to the instructor.
Qualifications:

  • Only Current Masters or Doctoral student registered at McGill are eligible to apply as Teaching Assistant, preferably particularly those in Surgical and Interventional Sciences. Students in Public Health, Epidemiology, Experimental Medicine, Computer Science, or a related field. Successful completion of EXSU 619, EXSU 620 and EXSU 621 with a final grade of A.

  • Graduate-level training or experience in surgical innovation, healthcare, clinical sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with hospital operations, patient flow, healthcare management, and the roles of healthcare professionals.

  • Understanding of clinical needs identification, design thinking, patient safety, ethics, and patient rights.

  • Ability to analyze healthcare challenges by considering the relevant problems, patient populations, and outcomes.

  • Experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and constructive feedback skills.

  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical conduct.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
