American Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE/NASDAQ: AFG) is a holding company based in Cincinnati, Ohio and has been in business for more than four decades. Our insurance roots go back to the 1800’s with the founding of Great American Insurance Company in 1872. Today, through the operations of Great American Insurance Group, AFG is primarily engaged in property and casualty insurance (“P&C”), focusing on specialized commercial products for businesses. AFG’s purpose is to enable individuals and businesses to manage financial risk using insurance products and services tailored to meet their specific and ever-changing risk exposures. AFG’s strategy is to allocate capital to insurance operations which management believes offers a competitive advantage or unique opportunities.
The AFG Tax Division provides tax advice, analysis and planning services to the AFG family of companies and plays an integral role in all major transactions involving AFG and its subsidiaries. Within our department culture, we strive to grow and develop technical expertise, be technologically innovative, provide quality service, and maintain a strong team. In addition to transaction-related planning and advice, the Tax Division is responsible for federal, state and local compliance and tax controversy resolution from audit through litigation.
The Tax Technology Analyst will help modernize and support the tools, data, and processes used by the AFG Tax Division. This role blends a Tax Analyst position with hands-on work in data preparation, reporting, workflow automation, and continuous process improvement to enable accurate, efficient, and well-controlled tax compliance and planning. Specific areas of opportunity will be tailored based on experience and interest, including tax technology initiatives, reporting and analytics, and support for federal tax processes.
This role is ideal for CPAs currently in public accounting who are looking to transition into a strategic in-house tax role with exposure beyond compliance and offers a more predictable work schedule, or for a recent graduate seeking their first role in tax. Great American’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely.
