Job Title: Tax Junior Manager

About the role
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the markets’ tax processes are done accurately and on time. These include value-added tax, import duties, excise levies, ecological taxes, and other supplementary returns. The role also ensures efficiency by using automation. It requires strict adherence to internal control procedures and legislative requirements.
Accountabilities
Coordinating the preparation and review of VAT, import duties, excise levies, environmental charges, and related supplementary returns. This follows global standard processes and controls and uses automation tools when applicable.
Compiling and ensuring accuracy and timely filing (including sign off and payment process) of VAT, customs & excise duty, environmental tax and other related reporting;
Being responsible to flag risks and tax saving opportunities identified during the return preparation and flag unusual or new business scenarios and comment on their tax treatment;
Working closely with Tax Analysts, Seniors and SME-s to ensure compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes;
Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring these are done on time and in an internal and external control compliant way;
Actively handling tax document retention for respective markets;
Supplying to the continuous improvement - through establishing a LEAN approach to drive effectiveness and efficiency - of the tax compliance processes ;
Embedding and operating the new controls and KPI reports, monitoring the implemented KPI-s, investigating root-cause or errors and working with end-to-end processes to improve KPIs;
Ensuring 100% CARM and 100% PCAOB accuracy on tax related CARM controls;
Ensuring that Tax Calendar is supervised and filled-in in a timely and quality manner;
Promptly responding to market queries in respect of markets in their responsibility.
What you'll bring
Relevant professional qualification and 7 years of experience in taxation;
Practical experience of tax procedures including governance, controls, compliance and related accounting and documentation.
In depth knowledge of tax legislation
Knowledge of SAP
Experience with the tax rules/implications of domestic and cross border Direct to Consumer/eCommerce/Retail systems/platforms and e-Invoicing an advantage
Solid understanding of interaction between VAT and other taxes, particularly excise and customs duties
Ability to work through others or exercise influence to deliver performance improvement.
Good English language and communication skills
Generates and sustains great working relationships and networks across the organisation.
Strong stakeholder leadership skills
Flexibility for adapting to change, often at short notice, with positive attitude.
Strong risk management skills, ability to follow-up/flag potential issues
