The Tax Accountant is responsible for the preparation of US and Canadian Income tax returns and related reports to ensure company compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local tax regulations, including calculating estimated payments and performing account reconciliations, assistance with annual and quarterly income tax provision, supporting the manager in complying with income and indirect tax audit requests, and minimizing company tax liability through sound and informed application of tax laws and regulations that permit alternate treatment of taxable items.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist managers in the preparation of both the US Federal income tax return and the Canadian Federal income tax return.

  • Prepare and file state income tax returns and Provincial income tax returns including quarterly estimates and annual extension requests.

  • Assist the Sales & Use tax team on various projects

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual income tax provision (ASC 740)

  • Assist Manager with tax audits (income or indirect) to ensure timely response to information requests.

  • Keep Tax Director informed of key issues and happenings; Keep current on general tax knowledge.

  • Update and maintain required account reconciliations for assigned accounts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or finance with a concentration in accounting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Multi-tasked orientated and organized

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must possess strong analytical skills and aptitude.

  • Experience with CorpTax™ is a bonus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
