Your Next Career Opportunity – Tax Accountant II
The Tax Accountant II is responsible for accurate sales and use tax multi-state tax compliance, reporting and property tax compliance. This role requires hands-on experience with Vertex Tax software and an understanding of state and local tax regulations. This role ensures timely and accurate filing of tax returns and supports audit readiness and process improvements. Assist in ensuring compliance with policy and procedures.
What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly tax reconciliations.
- Complete timely and accurate sales & use tax filings.
- Compile and analyze sales & use tax data to prepare and book journal entries.
- Prepare spreadsheets and memoranda to analyze and present findings to our internal and external auditors.
- Assist with Sarbanes Oxley documentation and test requirements.
- Identify ways to gain efficiencies in processes, leverage technology and assist implementing changes.
- Address tax inquiries posed by internal and external customers in a timely manner.
- Assist with gathering information for audits and work with external auditors.
- Assist with back billing taxes to customers.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Review, analyze, and process property tax bills received from municipalities.
- Prepare and file property tax returns and related documentation.
- Research delinquent tax matters and communicate findings to Tax Manager.
What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements
- High School or GED Required. AA, BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting strongly preferred;
- and 5+ years of sales and tax experience
- 2 years of hands-on experience with Vertex tax software required.
- Vertex Tax Software experience required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and tax compliance requirements.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a Team environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial data.
