Job Description:
**The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services does not sponsor or transfer non-immigrant work visas for this position or accept STEM OPT (form i-983) at any time. **
Location: This is an on-site position located at the Nebraska State Office Building in Lincoln, NE
Examples of Work:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with DHHS objectives.
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and documentation.
- Monitor progress against milestones; provide regular status updates and reports to leadership.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies; maintain RAID logs and escalate as needed.
- Facilitate meetings with internal teams and external partners; prepare agendas, capture decisions, and track action items.
- Oversee project budgets and assist with procurement and invoice tracking.
- Prepare dashboards and reports using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Clarity, or MS Project.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Foster collaboration across divisions and maintain a positive, inclusive team culture.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, public administration, business information systems, or a field related to the functions of the hiring agency AND two years of experience as a project manager with the responsibility to oversee the coordination, planning, initiation, and completion of major/long-term projects OR Four years of experience and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) OR Five years of experience working on medium-to-large projects. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience managing projects, preferably in a government, healthcare, or human services environment.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or equivalent certification.
- Experience with grant-funded or cross-agency initiatives.
- Familiarity with budgeting, procurement, and vendor management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SDLC) and tools (MS Project, Jira, Confluence).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with health and human services programs (e.g., Medicaid, SNAP, child welfare).
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
