The candidate for this role will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficient operation of the organization's IT infrastructure by administering servers, networks, desktop environments, and data center operations while supporting business-critical systems, optimizing performance, and delivering high-quality technical support.
Key ResponsibilitiesIT Server, Network & Infrastructure AdministrationAdminister and maintain servers, including operating system installation, software deployment, patching, firmware updates, hardware upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting, backups, restores, account management, file share permissions, printer configurations, and performance optimization.
Provide desktop, network, server, and infrastructure support across the organization's operations.
Perform system upgrades, infrastructure enhancements, solution design, and technology rollouts.
Manage server environments, virtualization platforms, databases, and network infrastructure.
Continuously evaluate IT processes and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
Investigate complex technical issues, implement permanent solutions, and reduce recurring system incidents.
Collaborate with network and ICT teams to ensure reliable operation of business systems and infrastructure.
Work closely with management and business stakeholders to identify business requirements, define system objectives, and resolve technology-related challenges.
Design, deploy, and implement new applications, operating systems, and software enhancements.
Conduct cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses for proposed technology solutions.
Research hardware and software products to support procurement decisions.
Liaise with vendors, contractors, and service providers to procure and implement IT solutions.
Assess system effectiveness and implement strategies to improve performance, availability, and scalability.
Develop system architecture documentation, technical specifications, diagrams, and implementation plans to support technology initiatives.
Deliver high-quality IT support to internal users across multiple locations.
Ensure agreed service levels are achieved while identifying opportunities for continual service improvement.
Manage IT service requests and keep users informed of incident progress and resolution.
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive and professional technical support.
Support data center operations during draw events on a rotational basis.
Monitor draw operations, complete operational checklists, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with organizational and statutory requirements.
Ensure accurate communication between operational environments to minimize operational and financial risks.
Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7 or equivalent) in Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years' experience in IT Server Engineering and Systems Administration.
At least 2 years' experience in IT Infrastructure Management within Data Center environments.
At least 2 years' experience in Network Management.
Professional certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCSE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience within the lottery or gaming industry is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of server administration, networking, virtualization, IT infrastructure, IT security, and IT service management.
Proven experience in systems design, implementation, maintenance, and technical troubleshooting.
Strong analytical, communication, customer service, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced technical environment.
