Job Description

The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining a Microsoft infrastructure including, but not limited to: operating systems, Exchange email infrastructure, patching, and backups; as well as assisting leadership on projects as needed. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (client and server), and application software. In addition, the incumbent will provide general assistance and support for leadership, the department, and company as required.

Schedule can vary, but is generally 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The position requires being available to work on-site at least 3 days per week and participating in a weekly 24-hour on-call rotation, which averages about 5 on-call days per month.

Essential Job Duties

1. Prepare, maintain, and uphold procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring server performance.
2. Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
3. Assist leadership with any planning or projects as requested.
4. Purchase and install new standardized server hardware.
5. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure server products and services.
6. Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data in accordance to business needs and industry best practices.
7. Manage a Microsoft Exchange environment including mailboxes, distribution groups, and other Exchange policies; enterprise antivirus and client security solution; and internal company contact directory.
8. Manage end user accounts, permissions, and access rights as well as user password recovery software.
 

Qualifications

1. Two or four-year degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Technology, strongly preferred. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred. MCP certification required; must have or be able to obtain MCITP within 1 year.
2. Six (6) years of related experience. Equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered. Extensive experience working with: network, PC, and platform operating systems; systems software, protocols, and standards (MS Exchange 2013, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP); LAN administration; mobile device management; high availability design; storage/server virtualization technologies; strong knowledge of patch management and change control practices.
3. Hands-on software/hardware troubleshooting experience; documenting and maintaining configuration, process information, and data management.
4. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; can convey technical information clearly, concisely, and effectively at all levels; adept at reading/writing tech materials.
6. Strong planning, project management, organizational skills; prioritizes work and adapts; keen attention to detail with focus on quality, security, and service.
7. Proactive, exercises good judgment; problem solver; anticipates/troubleshoots.
8. Professional, maintains confidentiality; self-directed and goal oriented.

Physical Requirements

1. The incumbent will work in an office environment.
2. The incumbent will be required to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
3. Must be able to walk/stand; climb stairs; stoop, bend, reach overhead; and work in various environments with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
4. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years of age. 
5. Will perform 24-hour call responsibilities supporting IT Operations on a rotating weekly schedule (yearly average of ~5 days / month). Additionally, the incumbent will be generally reachable if a core business system failure occurs. 
 

Skills Required

  • Two- or four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • Availability for rotating weekly 24-hour on-call responsibilities
