SUMMARY
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supplier quality planning, development, and performance management for critical suppliers supporting the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) program. This role works closely with engineering, global procurement & supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure supplier readiness, product quality, and production stability across the supply base.
This position manages supplier quality for a portfolio of strategic suppliers located across the United States, Mexico, and Europe, including high-voltage battery suppliers, key electronic component suppliers, and other automotive and fabrication suppliers. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer partners directly with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to develop robust manufacturing processes, ensure compliance with quality standards, and support issue resolution during product development and production ramp.
The role also leads supplier development initiatives for underperforming suppliers and performs production ramp-up readiness assessments to ensure suppliers are capable of meeting Oshkosh quality, delivery, and performance expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead supplier quality planning and development activities for critical NGDV program suppliers.
- Verify supplier manufacturing processes (PFMEA, Control Plans, Cpk and Ppk studies, etc.) for stability, capability, and control.
- Facilitate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
- Monitor and facilitate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities to ensure timely and compliant supplier approvals.
- Perform supplier manufacturing process assessments to validate process control, capability, and sustainability.
- Investigate supplier quality issues related to product and process performance and drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Execute standard supplier quality processes to facilitate issue resolution and validation of corrective actions.
- Lead supplier development initiatives for underperforming suppliers, including improvement plans and performance recovery efforts.
- Conduct supplier ramp-up readiness assessments and develop action plans to ensure suppliers are prepared to support production volumes.
- Gather and analyze internal and external data to identify quality risks, impacts, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Perform supplier certification activities through the Global Supplier Quality Audit process.
- Collaborate with plant manufacturing and engineering teams to support product development, manufacturing readiness, and production issue resolution.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (estimated travel up to 30%).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Three (3) or more years of related work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with automotive or complex manufacturing supply chains.
- Prior experience leading supplier development or supplier quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting new product launches and production ramp-ups.
- Knowledge of automotive quality standards and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of fundamental business principles and supply management processes and tools.
- Cross-functional experience in areas such as Quality, Manufacturing Operations, Product Engineering, Supply Management, Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines.

Pay Range:
$73,200.00 - $117,800.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
