Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer II to support and lead supplier quality initiatives within our Switchgear Division. This role is critical to ensuring supplier performance meets quality standards through root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement efforts aligned with ISO 9001 and operational excellence goals.

What You’ll Do:

Supplier Quality & Root Cause Analysis

  • Lead and support root cause investigations using tools such as 5-Why, fault tree, and fishbone analysis to resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Develop, implement, and verify corrective actions to improve supplier performance and prevent recurrence.
  • Review, trend, and close supplier nonconformities and quality incidents.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the key interface between suppliers, incoming inspection, engineering, and production teams to resolve product and assembly issues.
  • Work closely with Design and Application Engineering to identify and address as-built design concerns.
  • Support incoming inspection teams with technical problem resolution.

Supplier Development & Auditing

  • Partner with suppliers to develop FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and improvement plans.
  • Conduct and/or participate in internal and supplier audits; ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  • Travel to supplier locations to assess, analyze, and resolve quality issues.

Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Support implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance programs, including ISO 9001 standards.
  • Evaluate and improve procedures and documentation across incoming inspection, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Facilitate quality and manufacturing improvement initiatives across the division using Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze field incident reports and identify trends to drive preventive actions.
  • Assist in maintaining quality records in compliance with company standards and policies.

Operational Support & Leadership

  • Support quality-related initiatives across the Switchgear Division.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement through proactive communication and collaboration.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance/control, preferably in a manufacturing or supplier quality environment.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Experience with quality tools and methodologies such as SPC, 5-Why, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and Lean/Six Sigma principles.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate across functions and influence internal and external stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
