Supervisor of Engineering

Role Summary

The Engineering Supervisor provides technical engineering leadership and direct supervision for the production engineering team across Flywheel's South Texas (Eagle Ford) asset. This role drives safe, compliant, reliable, and optimized production through strong people leadership, process improvement, and data-driven technical solutions. The position is accountable for base production performance, workover and development program execution, and LOE discipline across a mature, PDP-heavy unconventional asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Culture — Model Flywheel's core behaviors in all interactions; promote positive behaviors, eliminate negative ones, and foster a collaborative, high-accountability environment where engineers own outcomes, not just tasks.
• Performance Management & Talent Development — Lead team performance through structured monthly one-on-one meetings, quarterly evaluations, and ongoing coaching; document clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for direct reports linked to business impact; identify skill gaps and provide development opportunities to build technical and commercial capability.
• Asset Production & LOE Performance — Drive continuous improvement in operating practices to maximize cash flow and minimize risk; set and maintain surveillance standards across the Eagle Ford well portfolio; maintain daily awareness of production versus plan through a meeting cadence you own.
• Workover & Development Program Oversight — Own workover cost and performance; review and approve all development and workover AFEs; conduct regular lookbacks against AFE, close performance gaps, and communicate risks and constraints to stakeholders proactively.
• Budget Management — Provide reliable forecasts of LOE and workover spend; minimize variance without sacrificing ROI-accretive work; communicate material variance early with context and a plan.
• Reporting, Planning & Stakeholder Alignment — Represent engineering in cross-functional forums with land, finance, and operations; resolve resource conflicts and escalate material production events, safety observations, and AFE overruns promptly; own the engineering plan through the annual planning cycle.
• Collaboration & Compliance — Champion full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards including RRC filing requirements and NSPS OOOO/OOOOb obligations; lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and audits.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive production and/or completions engineering experience in unconventional horizontal plays
• Direct experience with artificial lift selection and optimization — gas lift, rod lift, plunger, and ESP — across a declining asset base
• Proven workover candidate generation and post-job lookback discipline
• Demonstrated fluency in AFE economics and LOE structure
• Working knowledge of surveillance tooling — SCADA/Ignition, ARIES, WellView, Spotfire or Power BI
• Familiarity with RRC filing requirements and NSPS OOOO/OOOOb obligations
• Prior supervisory experience, or a demonstrated track record of leading engineers in a technical lead capacity
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to align field and office teams
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to field locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Eagle Ford operational experience strongly preferred
• SQL proficiency and experience with production data analysis platforms
• Prior involvement in asset acquisitions, integration, or new developments
• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree or P.E. license a plus)
• Familiarity with project economics, ROI prioritization, and program accountability
