Perform and supervise a team of reliability engineers responsible for improving asset reliability, availability, and maintainability across plant processing, fractionation, storage, and pipeline facilities. Drive reliability strategies, risk-based decision making, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment failure analysis, Management of Change (MOC) and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of critical assets.

Job Profile Summary
Lead and supervise a team of reliability engineers responsible for improving asset reliability, availability, and maintainability across plant processing, fractionation, storage, and pipeline facilities. Drive reliability strategies, risk-based decision making, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of critical assets. Partner with Operations and Maintenance to develop long-term asset strategies, provide governance for equipment-related Management of Change (MOC) activities, and ensure assets can be operated, maintained, and inspected safely throughout their lifecycle.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Perform and supervise employees engaged in reliability engineering activities including:

  • Reliability strategies and asset performance improvement initiatives
  • Preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs
  • Rotating equipment reliability including pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, gearboxes, and associated systems
  • Fixed equipment reliability including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, relief systems, and mechanical integrity programs
  • Electrical, instrumentation, and control systems reliability including VFDs, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, motors, analyzers, instrumentation, PLCs, DCS systems, and associated power distribution equipment
  • Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and bad actor elimination programs
  • Asset criticality assessments and risk-based maintenance strategies
  • Reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and maintenance optimization
  • Reliability data analytics, KPI development, and performance reporting

Research, analyze, prepare and approve information including:

  • Equipment reliability studies and improvement plans
  • Failure investigations and corrective action recommendations
  • Asset management standards and reliability procedures
  • Equipment repair specifications and reliability requirements
  • Maintenance optimization recommendations
  • Reliability and lifecycle cost analyses
  • Equipment replacement and capital justification studies
  • Management of Change (MOC) evaluations supporting equipment modifications, reliability improvements, maintenance strategy changes, and risk reduction initiatives

Lead cross-functional reliability initiatives involving:

  • Operations
  • Maintenance
  • Inspection
  • Process Engineering
  • Project Engineering
  • Vendors and contractors

Provide technical leadership and support regarding:

  • Rotating equipment failures and repairs
  • Equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Vibration, lubrication, thermography, and condition monitoring technologies
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance practices
  • Mechanical integrity and equipment reliability standards
  • Reliability best practices and industry benchmarks

Develop, monitor, and report reliability metrics including:

  • Mean Time Between Failure
  • Mean Time to Repair
  • Equipment availability
  • Maintenance effectiveness
  • Reliability improvement opportunities
  • Bad actor performance
  • Equipment lifecycle costs

Oversee utilization of personnel resources and reliability priorities through:

  • Asset criticality evaluations
  • Risk-based work prioritization
  • Reliability opportunity assessments
  • Strategic business objectives

Lead and develop the reliability engineering team through:

  • Technical coaching and mentoring
  • Performance management
  • Individual development planning
  • Reliability competency development
  • Knowledge sharing and best practice implementation

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a combination of formal education and the following job related experience preferred:

Work Experience

  • Experience leading and developing engineering teams and driving reliability culture improvements.
  • Extensive experience with rotating equipment reliability including pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated auxiliary systems.
  • Experience developing and implementing preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Experience conducting root cause failure analyses and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Experience utilizing reliability methodologies such as RCM, FMEA, RBI, RCFA, and asset criticality analysis.
  • Experience utilizing reliability and maintenance data to identify trends and drive business decisions.
  • Experience developing asset strategies and long-term equipment reliability plans.
  • Experience interacting effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and Project Engineering organizations.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, reliability reporting tools, and condition monitoring technologies.
  • Experience participating in and leading Management of Change (MOC) reviews for equipment modifications, reliability improvements, and capital projects.
  • Experience evaluating reliability impacts of design changes, equipment upgrades, and maintenance strategy modifications.

  • Ability to lead, direct, supervise and train other employees. Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information; conduct oral presentations.
