ROLE OVERVIEW:
Employee Success People Services & Operations group is the heartbeat of Salesforce. Within ES, the EMEA Payroll Team is responsible for ensuring our most valuable asset—our people—are paid accurately and on time across a diverse landscape of countries. We operate at the intersection of finance, law, and human connection.
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our EMEA Payroll team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in how a global organization manages payroll operations and compliance across multiple countries. You will have the opportunity to learn about the complexities of international payroll and specifically manage the vital connection between payroll and Employee Benefits.
To be successful in this role, the intern must have a basic understanding of payroll and benefits fundamentals, including pay structures and how various benefits offerings are processed through payroll. This role is not just about working with data—it also requires strong communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors. The intern should be able to ask the right questions, proactively seek data, and effectively communicate findings to support payroll and benefits decision-making.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working with payroll and benefits data. They should be proactive in problem-solving and capable of translating data insights into meaningful recommendations. Candidates should have prior exposure to payroll or benefits concepts through coursework, internships, or related experience. Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Global Payroll Support: Assist the team in processing payroll cycles across various EMEA jurisdictions, gaining exposure to local tax and labor regulations.
Benefits-to-Payroll Integration: Manage the link between benefits and payroll, ensuring that employee benefits and deductions are accurately captured and integrated into the payroll process.
Stakeholder Engagement: Support communication and coordination with internal stakeholders and external payroll vendors to ensure seamless data flow.
Data Integrity: Help maintain high standards of data accuracy within our HRIS (Workday) and payroll systems to ensure precise reporting and payment.
Process Insight: Contribute to team projects aimed at enhancing payroll workflows and improving the coordination between benefits offerings and payroll execution.
Query Management: Assist in responding to employee inquiries regarding pay and benefits deductions, ensuring a high level of service.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled in undergraduate program with a focus on human resources, finance, business, or related field, expected to graduate in 2027
Strong attention to detail and a comfort level working with data and spreadsheets
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse teams and external partners
Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including experience building analyses and models
Ability to communicate findings clearly in reports and presentations
Eagerness to learn about payroll, benefits, and HR analytics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous internship or work experience in HR, finance, or related field is a plus
Experience with Workday or other HR system tools is a plus
Previous coursework or projects involving data analysis or payroll/financial research
Interest in payroll trends, legislative compliance, and HR decision-making
