Here at our New Creations Child Care & Learning Center, we are looking for caring and passionate childcare teachers to join our Substitute team! In the Substitute program, you get the opportunity to work with different age groups at our East Metro locations such as Blaine, Lexington, Coon Rapids, Lino Lakes and Hugo! 

Schedule: Full Time or Part Time

Hiring for all positions- must meet DCYF qualifications 

Pay Range: $17-$23/hourly pending on experience and education

Primary responsibilities:
- Carries out weekly curriculum that is written by New Creations and is fully accredited
- Follows the daily schedule outlined by New Creations
- Works together with classroom staff to maintain a clean and safe learning environment
- Develops relationships with families. Communicates with families about important updates, child's progress, activities in the classroom, and additional information
- Interacts / co-plays with children
- Maintains children’s health, well-being & happiness throughout the day using positive approaches
- Additional duties as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous childcare experience, preferably in a childcare center environment
  • For Teacher/Assistant Teacher qualified positions- meets the education & experience requirements as defined by DCYF
  • Exemplifies the standards and characteristics of a New Creations employee (responsible, flexible, reliable, positive role model, etc.)
  • State DHS background check and fingerprints shall determine that the applicant has not been “convicted of a felony... has no criminal record that the commissioner reasonably believes renders the person unsuitable to be employed in a child care center.”
  • Certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid & CPR completed within 30 days of employment.
  • SUIDS & AHT completed on first day of employment.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
With or without reasonable accommodation this position requires:

  • Ability to travel on an ongoing basis.
  • Extensive standing and walking; sitting on the floor and on low (12”) chairs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Lifting and carrying children extensively in the infant/toddler program; less frequently in the preschool program, but the children are heavier.
  • Frequent moving of equipment (cots, tables, etc.).
  • Pushing children in buggies, strollers, and walking for considerable periods.
  • The necessity of being outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to unpleasant odors and fluids caused by vomit (occasional) and bodily elimination.
  • Relatively frequent exposure to loud noises (baby crying, toys falling and other common occurrences of children at play).

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • No weekends

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous childcare experience
  • Teacher or Assistant Teacher education and experience requirements as defined by DCYF
  • State DHS background check and fingerprinting with no disqualifying criminal record
  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment
  • SUIDS and AHT training completed on the first day of employment
