What You’ll Do: 

Operating at the intersection of Solution Engineering, Professional Services and Product Management, a Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) Team Lead Architect leverage state-of-the-art AI tooling alongside deep implementation expertise and industry knowledge to build foundational solutions, solve complex problems, accelerate our customers' time-to-value and decrease the cost of traditional services. You will partner with our sales organization by applying your technical abilities, problem solving skills and business acumen in support of SailPoint’s growth objectives.  

 

An FDE Team Lead Architect at SailPoint embark on their journey by undergoing comprehensive product and sales training. This initial phase allows them to harness their existing experience, paving the way for a profound understanding of our SaaS solutions and the challenges they solve for our customers 

  • Within two monthsFDEs begin participating in sales deals where they will leverage their product implementation expertise as well as client and partner communication skills to implement foundational solutions and proof-of-value implementationsleading to rapid time to value.  
  • After their first six months, FDEs will be expected to serve as technical leads on customer engagements and have established themselves as both technical and consultative experts within the SailPoint Sales organization 
  • By the end of their first year, they will have become a trusted advisor to customers, partners, and to less experienced team members. They may have the opportunity to speak at national or regional conferences and user groups. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manages a small team of Forward Deployed Engineers
  • Actively participate in the sales process and work closely with the direct and channel sales teams  
  • Discover and understand customer requirements and align our solutions to those requirements, augmenting your expertise with AI tooling 
  • Participate in onsite and remote foundational implementation engagements 
  • Educate customers on high-level product architecture, functional design, and best practices 
  • Assist in the analysis, and documentation of customer requirements and how they map to SailPoint solutions 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams like sales, solution engineering, product, professional services, and customer success to ensure a seamless customer experience 
  • Collaborate with other Forward Deployed Engineering team members to design creative solutions to complex problems.  
  • Master Artificial Intelligence and Agentic technologies to solve customer problems. 
  • Contribute to building out Agentic technology solutions that become our standard for demonstrations of SailPoint’s products.  

 

Requirements: 

  • 7-10+ years of professional work experience as part of an enterprise software company, systems integrator, or consulting firm; 5+ years of software implementation or pre-sales experienceExperience in software development, implementation, and configuration 
  • Team lead/management experience over Software Engineers and/or Software Architects
  • Excellent communications skills and extensive experience working directly with clients and partners 
  • A working knowledge of technical infrastructure including web services, application servers, databases, virtualization, and directories is required  
  • Conversant in modern SaaS architecture  
  • Experience with agentic coding tools such as  
  • Cursor, Claude Code, Kiro, Google Antigravity, GitHub CoPilot, OpenAI Codex 
  • Familiarity with Java, XML, Python, SQL, Powershell, JSON, Azure/AWS/GCP is desirable  
  • Experience with the following tech-stack 
  • NodeJS, JavaScript, Typescript, Angular, React.js 

 

Preferred: 

  • 5+ years working with Identity, Governance and Access Management solutions  
  • Experience with at least one of the following 
  • Windows and Unix (Linux, Sun, HP, AIX) platforms 
  • Relational databases (Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL, MySQL) 
  • NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) 
  • Directories (LDAP, AD) 
  • Enterprise resource planning or service management systems (SAP, PeopleSoft, ServiceNow) 
  • Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) 
  • Familiarity with SailPoint products and vendors such as Saviynt, RSA/AveksaOne Identity, Oralce Identity Manageretc.  
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts 
  • Experience with project management duties (project planning, resource management, scope, schedule and status, documentation) 
  • Experience with quality assurance duties (usability testing, performance testing, automated testing, test scripts, test cases and test plans) 
  • Security software or IT audit experience 

 

Education: 

  • Computer Science degree, Engineering degree, oequivalent experience 
  • J2EE certification and/or CISSP certification is a plus 
  • SailPoint Certified Engineer or Solution Architect is a plus and is expected within 12 months of hire 

 

Travel: 

  • This position may require up to 15% travel 

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.


As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-max, USD):

$97,600 - $164,492.00

Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
