OBJECTIVE 

The role of the Subrogation Specialist is to coordinate, investigate, evaluate the legal liability of any party involved, and resolve each claim. This position works closely with our clients and all related parties to obtain the necessary information to create recovery theories as well as coordinate the development of evidence to support those theories. 


PRIMARY JOB DUTIES 

  • Direct/conduct investigations to determine a claim's subrogation potential and pursue appropriate recovery 
  • Identify, investigate, and gather proper information in support of the recovery opportunity 
  • Negotiate settlements with responsible parties, and if a settlement can't be reached, direct legal action or file arbitration versus potentially responsible parties 
  • Write arbitration submissions 
  • Maintain active diary to ensure all files are aggressively pursued 

SECONDARY JOB DUTIES 

  • Prepare necessary documentation in a timely manner in accordance with established guidelines or requirements 
  • Research relevant statutes and case law 
  • Create legal demand letters 
  • Maintain client relationships on assigned accounts by providing reports and summaries of files 
  • Answer phone calls from clients, witnesses, experts, insurance companies and adverse parties 
  • Identify additional opportunities in claims and files 
  • Manage the claim investigative process in a timely effective manner 
  • Effectively communicate with clients throughout the claim process 
  • Proper and timely documentation of efforts made and next step actions in support of client results 
  • Respond to all inquiries from all parties 
  • Process and / or approve checks in appropriate claims system 
  • Assist in training new hires 
  • Cultivate strong business relationships with external parties 
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and propose ideas 
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between countries and cultures within all regions 
  • Assist in subrogation project work as required 
  • Act as backup to other members of the team 
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with all information entrusted with

WORK HOURS  

This is a full-time position. While we provide a flexible work schedule and our core hours are: Monday through Friday, typically between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm EST/EDT, subject to change with advanced notice. Schedules and hours required may vary by region, department, client, and/or team. Schedules will be assigned and agreed on an individual basis by and with the manager/supervisor of the position.

No travel is expected for this position 


WORK ENVIRONMENT  

This job is operated in a remote work environment. This role may routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, headsets, telephones, webcams, photocopiers/printers, and related. The noise level  will vary based on the individual’s remote work environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and work with others through verbal and written contact. This is a largely sedentary role; however the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include general seeing and close vision. Repetitive motion is frequently required through typing and computer mouse usage. Mental requirements include simple and complex reading, simple and complex writing, memorization, analyzation, perception/comprehension, decision making, planning, independent action, and planning.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience, and 1-5 years’ experience in claims (property, auto, workers’ compensation) related experience 

FLUENCY  

This position requires fluency in the English language
