About this opportunity
We are looking for motivated and curious Students/Interns to join the 5G Open Innovation Center (Lab) and Ericsson Research environment. This opportunity is focused on immersive technologies, Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and advanced connectivity such as 5G and beyond.
The Lab plays a strategic role in demonstrating 5G as an innovation platform for key use cases such as Private Networks, Utilities, Industry 4.0, and emerging digital experiences. As an intern, you will actively contribute to the development and demonstration of Proofs of Concept (PoCs) that combine differentiated 5G connectivity with cutting-edge technologies like AI, AR/VR, and robotics.
You will work in a hands-on, high-end experimental environment, alongside experienced researchers, engineers, and PhDs, gaining accelerated learning and exposure to real-world innovation scenarios that go beyond typical academic or industrial labs.
What you will do
- Develop and prototype Proofs of Concept (PoCs) exploring emerging technologies and advanced connectivity, using software development and experimental platforms.
- Create and implement experimental applications using 3D development platforms such as Unity, with programming in C#, Python, or similar languages.
- Explore immersive technologies hands-on, including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) devices.
- Integrate immersive applications with Generative AI, computer vision, voice assistants, and 5G connectivity, enabling innovative AR/VR use cases powered by advanced networks.
- Conduct comparative studies and evaluations of communication technologies, such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, and private networks, analyzing performance in applied scenarios.
- Integrate hardware and software components, including sensors, AR/VR devices, robotic platforms, and 5G modules.
- Support demonstrations of PoCs during events, technical visits, and institutional showcases for diverse audiences, including telecom operators, industry partners, government representatives, media, and internal stakeholders.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts and the societal and industrial impact of emerging technologies through storytelling and live demonstrations.
What you will bring
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Intermediate level of English, sufficient for collaboration with Ericsson teams in Europe and the USA.
- Interest or basic knowledge in immersive technologies (AR/VR/MR) and Artificial Intelligence, including computer vision and generative models.
- Basic understanding of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), distributed architectures, and system integration.
- Fundamental concepts of 4G/5G networks, private networks, communication protocols, and connectivity solutions.
- Familiarity or interest in Cloud Computing and Edge Computing.
- Programming knowledge in Python, C#, Java, or similar languages; experience with Unity or robotics platforms is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of Linux, IoT, autonomous robotics concepts, or sensor integration is desirable but not mandatory.
- A creative, curious, and hands-on profile, with willingness to experiment, build, integrate, and debug solutions.
- Strong communication skills for technical presentations and demonstrations.
- Availability to work on-site at the Indaiatuba Lab at least twice per week
