Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement long-term life cycle management strategies for the VISTRA nuclear fleet, focusing on operational sustainability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Create a comprehensive long-range plan for component replacement and refurbishment, including timelines and critical milestones.
  • Inform the VISTRA corporation of future budgetary needs based on the long-range plan.
  • Work with cross functional teams to develop major outage and preventative maintenance work scope.
  • Asset Management:
    • Oversee the tracking and management of assets throughout their life cycle, ensuring optimal utilization and timely maintenance and replacement.
    • Coordinate with supply chain partners to ensure availability and reliability of critical components and materials over the long term.
  • Risk Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential issues and implement mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of the fleet.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address long-term challenges and uncertainties
  • Technology Integration:
    • Identify and integrate emerging technologies and best practices to enhance fleet efficiency.
    • Evaluate the impact of new technologies on the long-range plan and component life cycles.

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • BS or greater in an Engineering discipline
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or meets additional years of experience requirements preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates and applies knowledge of current and pending regulatory, code and general industry issues to resolve Vistra’s interests.
  • Proficient with technical evaluation processes.
  • Proficient in nuclear plant technologies
  • Preferred 8 years experience in power plant operations / engineering or comparable industries
  • Demonstrates application of fundamental scientific principles
  • Communication –Must be able to effectively communicate with peers, management and/or represent Vistra’s interests to outside agencies
  • Able to execute projects/strategies with some oversight.
  • Demonstrated high performer through consecutive evaluations or work history for external candidates.

Key Metrics:

  • Individual contributor in field of expertise.
  • Provides technical support on a fleetwide basis
  • Maintain effective working relationships.  Be able to explain technical information to ensure work/repairs completed correctly.
