We are looking for a Storage & Backup Engineer to design, operate, and continuously improve enterprise data protection and software-defined storage platforms. This role will focus on Commvault backup & recovery, scale-out file/object storage (Isilon/ECS/Pure FlashBlade), and IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) / ESS platforms, with strong emphasis on Linux, scripting, and automation. What You'll Bring:
Key Responsibilities
1) Commvault – Backup, Recovery, and DR Engineering
- Administer and support enterprise Commvault environments (CommServe, MediaAgents, storage policies, scheduling, retention, reporting).
- Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, optimize performance, and ensure backup integrity through routine restore validations and test restores.
- Build and enhance backup strategies to meet RPO/RTO objectives, audit/compliance requirements, and business continuity goals.
- Drive operational excellence: capacity planning, usage analytics, patching, security hardening, and documentation of backup procedures/runbooks.
2) Storage Platforms – Isilon / ECS / Pure FlashBlade (File & Object)
- Operate and support Dell EMC Isilon (OneFS) including node lifecycle activities, access controls, snapshots/replication, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Support ECS object storage and its integration patterns (capacity management, tiering, troubleshooting; collaboration with app/platform teams).
- Administer and optimize Pure FlashBlade file/object storage environments, including availability, performance analysis, and operational best practices.
3) IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) / ESS Engineering
- Administer IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) clusters and ESS systems: health monitoring, patching/upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Support distributed storage operations including namespace, quotas, policies, replication/HA patterns, and operational governance.
4) Linux + Scripting + Automation
- Build automation for backup/storage operations using Bash/Python, scheduling, reporting, configuration drift checks, and self-healing workflows. (Automation emphasis aligns with the SDS charter scope.)
- Implement repeatable operational tooling (runbooks, CI-style checks, infrastructure scripts) and integrate with ITSM/change workflows.
5) Operations, Collaboration, and Governance
- Participate in on-call rotation, handle incidents, perform RCA, and implement preventive improvements.
- Work closely with platform, security, network, and application teams on migrations, upgrades, and stability initiatives (e.g., storage utilization management and platform lifecycle).
