Job Description

The Digital and Mobile Enablement Technology Organization in Issuing Solutions at Visa is looking for a talented full stack software developer to implement consumer facing digital and mobile products as we advance Visa’s Payment Digitization. This Individual will be a part of a talented Engineering team, applying expertise both in back end Java and front end web technologies to create and deliver outstanding features to scale our Issuers and partners. The role is a self-organized Staff Software Engineer , with solid Java and web service development experience. In this position, you are first and foremost a passionate and talented developer that can work in a dynamic environment as a member of Agile Scrum teams. You will contribute to the success of our Digital and Mobile Enablement Platform that delights the customer with innovative consumer facing mobile and digital products. Must be able to execute and manage input from business and technology stakeholders across multiple disciplines. Responsible to design solutions and execute large-scale technology initiatives. Your strong technical leadership, problem solving abilities, software programming/coding, testing and debugging skills are just a start. You must be dedicated to filling product backlog and delivering production-ready code in three to five week sprints. You must be willing to go beyond the routine and prepared to do a little bit of everything. You will be assigned tasks to contribute and deliver strategic breakthrough technologies and complex systems. You will work closely with product teams, back end, front end development teams and partner with cross functional teams from testing to security. The successful candidate will be working on cutting edge payment solutions, responsible for delivering high quality code with precision and accountability. You will provide technical mentorship to team members and participate in peer code review. You will engage with architects to provide the best in class solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in technical design of solutions that are based on use cases and business requirements

  • Interpret business requirements into technology solutions

  • Develop high quality and robust software components that delight the customers

  • Complete proof of concepts and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs and solutions

  • Engage development leads and architects (both enterprise and domain) to ensure that overall Enterprise Architecture is inclusive of all stakeholder viewpoints and are vetted to ensure that artifacts supports, reflects, advances and integrates as intended.

  • Ensure inclusion of Visa's business vision, current business environment (internally and externally) andtechnology and industry trends to enable results that drive Visa's business.

  • Collaborate on development projects and deliver assigned projects

  • Mentor team members

  • Conduct peer code reviews

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• BS degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or other related fields with a minimum of 6 years of experience Javascript, Java and web service development -OR-
• MS degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or other related fields with a minimum of 5 years of experience Java and web service development.
Skills
• Experience with web services standards and related technologies: HTTP, Spring, Boot, XML, JSON, REST, WS*, Java 8, Java Microservices, JS, React, redux, hibernate
• Deep knowledge of Web development practices and commonly used modules based on extensive work experience
• Strong foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design optimized for mobile platform
• Experience programming in Java, J2EE and Web programming in JS
• Solid understanding of database technologies and SQL and JPA.
• Experience in Object Oriented Design concepts
• Preferred Experience in payments integration and / or online ecommerce shopping and / or Payment gateways.
• Proven problem solving skills and an ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities and challenges
• Development Team lead experience preferred
• Strong dedication to test automation and Test Driven Development
• Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills.
• Ability to convey development concepts related to network, application, and systems - to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability and desire to learn new skills and take on new initiatives.
• Proven ability to work and have fun in a team environment
• Experience working in an agile development life cycle
• Experience with tools like Jira or similar
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes or CI/CD
• Experience in utilizing Source Control & Build Tools, like Bitbucket, Jenkins etc.
