The Role: Staff MLOps Engineer
We're looking for a Staff MLOps Engineer to join our Data Platform Engineering team, contributing to Personio's company-wide AI & ML initiatives. This is a high-impact role focused on building the foundational infrastructure, tooling, and operational capabilities that enable data scientists and AI engineers to deploy, monitor, and scale models seamlessly.
What You'll Do
- Own and shape our ML Ops Platform - Build and evolve the infrastructure that powers internal and product-facing AI capabilities.
- Develop robust, scalable tooling - Empower internal teams to productionize ML models efficiently with best-in-class observability, security, and deployment workflows.
- Lead technical design and delivery - Set standards and drive technical excellence across the team.
- Code hands-on - Work in Python, TypeScript, Terraform, CDK, and interact with tools like Snowflake, SageMaker, Databricks, and BigQuery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally - Partner with stakeholders across data science, analytics, product, and platform engineering.
- Mentor and guide - Help upskill team members, especially our mid-level MLOps engineer.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of engineering experience, ideally building infrastructure for ML/AI systems
- Proven, production-grade experience deploying and operating ML models at scale
- Strong experience with modern cloud environments (preferably AWS) and infra-as-code tools like Terraform and CDK
- Hands-on experience with ML infrastructure components (e.g. SageMaker, feature stores, model versioning, monitoring)
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping new capabilities from the ground up
- Strong coding background and eagerness to stay hands-on in development
