At Multitude IT Labs, Staff Engineers are senior, hands-on technical experts operating across the whole organization. Their mission is to raise the engineering bar across the whole organisation by defining and evolving cross-cutting standards, toolchains, and practices, ensuring regulatory & compliance requirements are met, and introducing innovation that keeps our stack modern, reliable, and secure.
Core Responsibilities
- Define and evolve cross-cutting standards
Develop and maintain organisation-wide architecture patterns, coding guidelines, software security practices, and toolchains. - Ensure compliance & governance
Translate relevant FinTech regulatory requirements into actionable engineering policies and oversee their adoption. - Build shared assets
Create and curate reusable frameworks, libraries, pipelines, and infrastructure that accelerate squads whilst remaining secure, observable, and auditable. - Drive innovation
Scout, evaluate, and pilot emerging technologies; lead proof of concept and guide adoption across teams. Define quality criteria for new solutions and participate in key technology decision making. - Coach & mentor
Level-up engineers through knowledge sharing sessions, design reviews, and formal mentorship. - Improve quality
Establish quality gates and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce tech debt and increase reliability. - Define operational excellence & KPIs
Partner with Lead Engineers and Heads of Technology to set measurable engineering KPIs—covering reliability, performance, efficiency, delivery throughput, and developer experience—and drive adoption and enable reporting across teams. - Catalyst for change
Guide teams in adopting improved standards, technologies, and practices. Assess existing technical setups, design effective solutions, and establish a strategic direction. - Collaborate closely with technical leadership
Work hand-in-hand with Lead Engineers, Heads of Technology, Security, and the IT Governance Manager to align technical strategy with business needs and regulatory landscape.
Success Measures
- Adoption of standards and tooling across squads (architecture, code, security).
- Translation of audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements into actionable SDLC practices, ensuring engineering teams meet FinTech standards effectively.
- Innovation and modernization of stack through piloting and rolling out new technologies.
- Mentoring and technical leadership resulting in team growth and positive feedback.
- Improved quality and engineering KPIs such as reduced tech debt, higher reliability, and throughput.
