Staff Engineer– Enterprise Engineering MDM (Mobility)
Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer, Enterprise Engineering with a passion for building high performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. Position Description
Our Staff Engineer, Enterprise Engineering is a key member of the Mobility Management platform engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.
Position Responsibilities
As a Staff Engineer, you will:
- Engineer and build associate experiences for end user computing devices
- Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems
- Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
- Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
- Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective
- Utilize programming languages like Bash, Python, PowerShell, or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services
- Mentor other engineers
- Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
- Participate in Production on-call support
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with endpoint management platforms such as Workspace ONE, Intune, SCCM, and JamF (Ivanti is a plus)
- Moderate to advanced understanding of Directory Services(both on-prem and Azure AD) and enterprise level networks
- Demonstrated experience in PowerBI
- Experience in the maintenance of virtual workstation platforms such as Citrix, VDI, and AVD (Azure Subscriptions are desired)
- Experience with management of security compliance configurations (GPOs and CSPs)
- Proven track record in automating processes and workflows in the context of User and Device management
- Strong Windows and Mac endpoint troubleshooting, including the ability to decipher logs
- Excellent comprehension, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with various audiences (leadership, highly technical, and non-technical business partners)
- Strong PowerShell and/or Python scripting skills
- Experience with project management, including the identification of milestone, due dates, and priority
- Experience with Endpoint and Third-party application patch management
- Experience with Enterprise level documentation creation and design
- Experience with Cloud Services Administration (Azure, AWS, etc.)
- Familiarity with application monitoring and performance assessments
- Advanced programming experience with at least two modern languages such as Java, Go, C++, Python, PowerShell, or C# including object-oriented design
- Proven understanding of microservices oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
- Experience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Influx, Grafana or equivalents
- Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools
- Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts and tooling
- Understanding of security protocols and products: Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth
- Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
- One or more of the following certifications are highly desired: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) and/or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS900)
Experience
- 6+ years of engineering experience on MDM platforms that support both Windows and Mac devices
- 3+ years of experience with architecture and design
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
Annual Salary
$90,000.00 - $260,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
