Job Description

Experienced DB2 and NoSQL Public Cloud Database Engineer to join our dynamic DB Eng team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our database systems in public cloud environments. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability of our databases, including Db2 and various NoSQL databases.

This role will contribute to the design and architect, solution engineering, and L3 support will be responsible for delivering database projects, able to perform problem analysis and troubleshooting.

Deploy and manage database instances on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  Utilize cloud-native tools and services to enhance database performance and reliability.

  • To Architect, design, build, and governance of the deployment standards of IBM DB2 LUW and NoSQL databases for our organization.
  •   Develop and maintain scripts for database automation tasks using Python, Ansible, or similar languages.
  •  Implement Infrastructure as Code practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure databases are protected against data loss and can be recovered in case of failure.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide regular reports on database performance, uptime, and other key metrics.
  • Set up and maintain database monitoring tools to ensure database health and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database related issues in a timely manner.
  • provide technical influence and subject matter expertise for the database team, tackling complex problems and identifying innovative solutions
  • Work closely with our development teams to ensure database designs align with application requirements, leading to more efficient and effective application development.
  • The role serves as a technical and functional specialist, working independently with guidance only in the most challenging situations.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:-

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 7+ years of relevant work experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or other technology field is necessary.
  • 7-10 years of DBA experience, generally with DB2 LUW and NoSQL databases.
  • Proficiency with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Druid or StarRocks. Experience with public cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong knowledge and extensive experience with DB2 UDB RDBMS technologies, Cassandra and Public cloud NoSQL databases.
  • Other Required Skillsets Sound knowledge of all UNIX and DB2 UDB utilities. Troubleshoot database performance problems and database issues.
  • Should have strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of network, storage, tiered application environments and security.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL procedures, functions and packages for administration and application support and experience with Q replication, Range partitioned tables, Hash partitioned tables, Replicated MQT and MDC.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, scripting languages, data modeling and business intelligence tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills along with effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and database environment issues.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs.
  • Sound knowledge of NoSQL technologies like MongoDB, Cassandra is preferable.
  • Work experience in a Financial Institute will be preferred.
