Garner is entering our next phase of scale, and we are looking for engineers who can help us build the systems we need to keep up with our customer demand. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will be a key architect of our technical direction and processes, serving as a high-level problem-solver and mentor to other engineers on the team.
Where you will work:This role will be based in our New York City office. You must be willing to work in the office 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
What you will do:- Build and maintain data pipelines that power our business
- Collaborate across disciplines to provide timely and accurate information
- Protect our users’ privacy and security through best practices
- Support our production operations and come up with solutions to lighten the operational load
- Design and optimize for the long term while moving fast and iteratively deliver for the short term
- Ideate on new features and work with data to find new insights
- Research and work with the latest tools and technologies
- 6+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on building and maintaining scalable software
- 3+ years of experience designing and implementing data pipelines
- Strong understanding of core Computer Science fundamentals
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Expertise with deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes environments
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Argo preferred)
- Strong background in developing and integrating back-end APIs, especially within distributed, event driven architectures
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL
- Experienced working in an Agile environment with well-versed tools and practices
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies

Compensation Transparency:The target salary range for this position is $246,000-$260,000 annually. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans, including but not limited to: flexible PTO, Medical/Dental/Vision plan options, 401(k), Teladoc Health and more.
