Responsibilities

What You'll Do:


As a Staff Accountant at Diversicare, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Posting and reconciling all company-wide cash transactions and accounts on a regular, recurring basis.
  • Overseeing facility accounting functions for assigned centers, including:
    • Conducting financial statement reviews for accuracy.
    • Performing balance sheet reconciliations with monthly reviews for accuracy against source documents.
    • Reviewing income statement accounts monthly for accuracy and variances, comparing to budget and detailed entries.
    • Proposing and posting all journal entries for initial financial statements.
  • Performing all monthly duties effectively and timely, adhering to department goals and deadlines.
  • Conducting general ledger account analysis as needed.
  • Maintaining fixed asset additions and deletions in our accounting software.
  • Completing provider bed tax returns and remitting payments to respective state authorities.
  • Troubleshooting questions and ensuring the accuracy of general ledger account coding for manual check requests.
  • Maintaining comprehensive facility accounting records, including monthly billing and general ledger reports, manual check requests, journal entry source documents, asset files, and balance sheet account reconciliation schedules.
  • Assisting in special projects focused on department improvement.
  • Prioritizing your workload and maintaining an organized workspace to ensure maximum workflow.
  • Attending assigned meetings and training sessions.
  • Acting in a professional and strictly confidential manner at all times.
  • Notifying your Supervisor of any conditions or issues that require management intervention.
  • Performing other related duties as directed by your Supervisor.
Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting.
  • You must be flexible, self-motivated, able to handle multiple tasks/projects, and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • The ability to work effectively with senior management to achieve company and department goals.
  • Excellent organization, technical, and written/oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to financial statements, general ledger analysis, journal entries, and accounts payable.
  • The proven ability to grasp new concepts and systems quickly.
  • A working knowledge of computerized accounting and communication software.
