Staff Accountant - Revenue

Job Description

Job Purpose:

This position reports to the Director -- Assistant Controller and is responsible for the overall coordination of revenue related transactions for altafiber. This position will ensure the timely and accurate preparation and filing of various financial regulatory reports. The position is also responsible for the preparation of account reconciliations and the analysis of balance sheet accounts and expense accounts. This position will be expected to gain an understanding of telecom accounting requirements and keep abreast of industry and regulatory issues of interest to altafiber. This position will perform and manage internal control responsibilities for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance purposes.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare journal entries and analyze information for financial close
• Reconcile General Ledger accounts and resolve reconciling differences
• Prepare and file various regulatory reports and ensure compliance with FCC and PUC rules
• Prepare quarterly analysis for corporate accounting
• Miscellaneous projects and request

Education:

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:

• Degree in Accounting or Finance

Relevant Work Experience:

0 to 2 years in related field, general ledger accounting experience advantageous

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles (familiarity with GAAP) and internal controls
• Ability to recognize deficiencies in methods and procedures, and then develop and implement improvements.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks, work on tight deadlines and shifting priorities in a team environment

Work Environment:

Hybrid. Requires 3 days in the office and 2 days remote on average.
