We’re looking for a Stabilising Engineer to join our team in Hamilton, supporting projects across Waikato and around New Zealand.
This is a hands-on role with our national operations crew, where you’ll help plan, coordinate and deliver civil works that matter. You’ll be trusted to manage moving parts, solve problems on the go, and keep projects tracking safely, efficiently and to a high standard. If you like variety, real responsibility, and being part of a team that backs good ideas over big titles, this could be your place.
This role involves regular travel across New Zealand and extended periods away from home. Most work is completed Monday to Friday, with weekend work, travel, and occasional night shift work required during busy periods. It’s a role for someone who enjoys getting stuck in, adapts well, and is ready to do good work wherever the job takes them.
Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities- Manage, coordinate and supervise assigned civil projects delivered by Fulton Hogan crews and subcontractors.
- Allocate labour, plant and materials to support smooth and efficient delivery.
- Work collaboratively to develop and implement practical engineered solutions across our contracts.
- Identify, assess and manage health and safety risks for workers, road users and the public.
- Ensure environmental risks are identified, documented and controlled through clear processes and positive process improvement.
- Support the use and continuous improvement of SOPs and site controls.
- Build strong working relationships with crews, subcontractors and stakeholders to keep work moving.
- Previous experience in a similar role, or a relevant tertiary qualification such as BE or NZCE.
- A current Class 1 Full NZ driver’s licence, with Class 2 preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and practical, hands-on capability.
- A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
- A collaborative, team-focused approach and the confidence to take initiative.
- Strong planning and coordination skills, with a proactive and accountable work style.
- Pride in delivering quality work and a willingness to travel regularly.
