Work, Play and Grow at BlackLine!
Make Your Mark:
Join BlackLine as a Staff II Full-Stack Software Engineer and serve as a strategic technical leader within our UI Platform team. You will architect and drive the evolution of our micro-frontend App Shell, bridging the complex gap between front-end orchestration and scalable back-end services. This role is pivotal in defining enterprise-wide patterns for migrating legacy .NET systems to a modern React /Java stack.
You will act as a "hands-on" architect, ensuring our platform is built on solid engineering principles - utilizing the C4 model for architectural clarity and patterns like Strangler Fig for safe, incremental legacy modernization.
You'll Get To:
- Architect & Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable micro-front-end architecture and reusable component libraries, leveraging technologies such as Webpack Module Federation.
- Strategic Platform Collaboration: Partner closely with the Staff Full-Stack Engineer to co-architect the micro-frontend App Shell. Jointly establish patterns for module federation, routing, and inter-app communication, ensuring that frontend architectural styles align seamlessly with backend services and platform infrastructure.
- Modernize & Migrate: Lead migration from legacy applications (.NET) to modern React-based solutions with micro-frontend App Shell architecture.
- Define Standards: Establish and enforce front-end coding standards, architectural patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across multiple engineering teams.
- Define Integration Strategies: Define strategies for shared authentication and login workflows across multiple micro-apps, URL routing for multiple apps on the same domain, and inter-app communication.
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Proactively drive performance optimization, observability, and security improvements across distributed front-end systems.
- Mentor & Influence: Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and influence technical decisions to foster a culture of quality, innovation, and engineering excellence.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience & Leadership: 10+ years of software engineering experience, with extensive time spent in architectural roles within large-scale SaaS environments.
- Architecture Mastery: Deep experience in both Backend and Frontend architecture. Proven ability to document and visualize complex systems and apply modernization patterns.
- Core Technologies: Expert-level proficiency in Java (for backend services) and JavaScript/TypeScript + React (for micro-frontend orchestration).
- Cloud Native & DevOps: Deep experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native services. Proficiency in designing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and infrastructure automation (Terraform).
- SDLC Strategy: Expertise in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Ability to optimize development workflows, from architectural design and testing strategies to automated deployment and production monitoring.
- Soft Skills: Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, negotiate technical trade-offs with stakeholders, and drive consensus on architectural decisions.
We're Even More Excited If You Have:
- Micro-Frontend Expertise: Deep understanding and practical experience with micro-frontends, legacy modernization, and designing scalable, high-performance web applications.
