HERE teams work with complex models and large, continuously changing data sources. Turning that work into dependable products requires more than a successful notebook: it requires scalable services, durable interfaces, observable pipelines and thoughtful engineering tradeoffs.
In this proposed positioning, you will build the platform and software foundations that help data scientists and ML engineers train, evaluate, deploy and operate AI capabilities using HERE spatial data.
You will solve real systems problems around scale, reliability, performance and developer velocity while partnering closely with applied AI and simulation teams.
What will you do?- Design and build production-grade services and pipelines that support ML training, evaluation and inference workflows.
- Create durable APIs and data interfaces between research systems, platform components and downstream products.
- Improve scalability, reliability, observability and cost efficiency across cloud-based workloads.
- Build automation for model packaging, testing, deployment and operational monitoring.
- Work with large, complex datasets while maintaining strong standards for data quality, security and reproducibility.
- Partner with data scientists and ML engineers to turn prototypes into maintainable software.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, testing strategy and engineering standards.
You are a product-minded software engineer who enjoys making hard technical work usable, scalable and reliable.
- Strong software-engineering experience in a modern backend language such as Python, Java, Scala, Go or C++.
- Experience designing distributed systems, cloud services, data platforms or ML infrastructure.
- Strong API design, testing, debugging and performance-engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with containers, CI/CD and production observability.
- Ability to work effectively with data scientists, ML engineers and platform teams.
- A bias toward clear architecture, measurable reliability and practical delivery.
- Experience with Kubernetes, workflow orchestration or feature/model platforms.
- Experience with geospatial, mapping, sensor or high-volume event data.
- Familiarity with GPU workloads, model serving or ML evaluation systems.
- Experience supporting AI or simulation products in production.
The expected base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as skills and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, which is subject to company and individual performance.
