Sr. Sales Engineer
Position Overview
The Sr. Sales Engineer is responsible for designing cost-effective, integrated communications solutions that are customized to meet the needs of customers in the Energy, Enterprise & Emerging Markets (EEM), Cruise, and Maritime industries. The Senior Sales Engineer must be versatile and capable of working across all business verticals in support of our regional sales team.
Responsibilities

Perform in a customer-facing role in support of the sales team in customer meetings, activities, and other fulfilled engagements as required to support our efforts to win and grow market share.

Lead and manage technical responses to customer inquiries including RFPs, RFIs, ITTs, and direct inquiries.

Act as the regional sales team's SME on technical matters related to communication systems in the Energy, EEM, and Maritime industries.

Collaborate with Product Development to provide requirements for new products and services.

Partner with Sales to address technical questions and deliver presentations during the RFP/RFI bidding process.

Support Sales by attending customer meetings, seminars, and product demonstrations as needed.

Develop cost models that align with customer objectives, and consider inputs from Sales, Finance, Legal (Licensing), and company resources.

Work collaboratively with Sales, Finance, Global Supply Chain, Network Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Project Management teams.

Provide post-sales support to Project Management/Service Delivery teams for successful project handovers.

Maintain strong technical relationships with customers to support sales in developing, growing, and sustaining customer relationships.

Collaborate with Sales, Business, and Product Development teams to support the division's strategy and oversee the technical solution development lifecycle.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SaaS, cloud-based technologies, and the telecommunications industry, including satellite and terrestrial communication technologies.

Innovatively design Speedcast solutions, incorporating value-added services while highlighting the benefits of Speedcast’s standard offerings to customers.

Clearly and effectively communicate knowledge and product solutions through in-person meetings and online presentations.

Manage customer expectations regarding product capabilities and limitations.

Provide technical mentorship to Sales Engineers to enhance team productivity.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
-
5+ years of experience in supporting and designing SaaS products and cloud-based solutions.
-
5+ years of relevant experience in designing satellite communication, IP networking, wireless communication solutions, and cyber security.
-
3+ years of experience preparing technical and commercial proposals for the enterprise industry, with a preference for experience in the energy and maritime sectors.

Strong understanding of IP networking, SD-WAN, VoIP, QoS, cyber security, and WAN optimization.

Practical experience in an IT/networking environment with sound knowledge of voice and data networking.

Extensive technical knowledge and experience with SaaS solutions, cloud-based services, satellite communications, IP-based voice and data networking, and wireless communication systems, including a solid financial and commercial understanding.

Working knowledge of satellite and/or telecommunications systems, including products and services such as iDirect Evolution, Newtec Dialog, SES O3b, Cobham SeaTel, and Intellian VSATs.

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and in-person and virtual presentation skills in English for engaging customers online or in person when presenting proposed solutions.

Proven experience in selling and articulating the value of API-based software solutions.

Ability to assume line manager’s duties during absences.

Experience working and liaising with technical and non-technical staff across all organizational levels.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics).
Preferred Skills

Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification.

Hands-on experience with fixed and maritime VSATs, IP data, voice/VoIP, and Wi-Fi networking.

Customer focused; ability to identify and handle customer needs.

Self-driven.

Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to effectively handle unscripted, challenging Q&A sessions from sales staff and clients.
