The Role You'll Play to Create Success

We are excited to announce our search for a full-time Senior Construction Paralegal! In this role, you'll contribute to the mission of FrankCrum by providing paralegal support duties to staff counsel in the defense of Frank Winston Crum Insurance Company and Clear Blue Insurance Company’s insureds in litigated matters involving in property, bodily injury, and construction defect claims throughout the State of Florida.

  1. Maintains a cooperative partnership with Claims Management/Staff and clients in the handling of all claims and lawsuits.
  2. Ensures compliance with all local court rules and court-ordered deadlines.
  3. Ensures compliance with insurer litigation guidelines, including reporting guidelines.
  4. Researches legal issues and prepares related memoranda to summarize results.
  5. Advises staff counsel as to priority issues and status of assigned cases.
  6. Assists staff counsel with litigation management and prioritization of critical litigation events and deadlines.
  7. Drafts pleadings for review by assigned staff counsel.
  8. Assists in all aspects of discovery, including preparing discovery responses, document production, and privilege logs.
  9. Assists in reviewing other parties’ discoveries, including analyzing and summarizing any responses and document production relevant to our client’s scope of work. 
  10. Prepares drafts of documents, affidavits, tenders, notices, and any other required correspondence.
  11. Prepares, issues and tracks subpoenas as necessary.
  12. Reviews and summarizes project records.
  13. Maintains electronic databases.
  14. Coordinates with outside litigation vendors.
  15. Assists with trial preparation, including the readiness of courtrooms and attendance at trials.
  16. Utilizes a proactive approach to litigation, including identifying and addressing tasks and deadlines without specific direction.


 

The Attributes We Seek

  1. Must have an associate degree in paralegal or legal studies, a paralegal certificate, or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in paralegal or legal studies is preferred. Florida registered paralegal (FRP) certification or willingness to obtain said certification also preferred.
  2. Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of law firm experience, preferably with a substantial portion of that time involved with insurance defense-oriented litigation.
  3. Experience with litigated construction defect claims, including Chapter 558 pre-suit requirements.
  4. Experience with litigated property and general liability claims.
  5. Experience supporting multiple attorneys with varying workstyles.
  6. Experience with litigation case management platforms. Experience with Clio preferred.
  7. Proficiency with legal technology, including document management systems, e-discovery platforms, and artificial intelligence (AI) tools utilized to support legal research, document review, drafting, and workflow efficiency.
