Why You Should Join the Orchestrate Group

The Orchestrate group is responsible for how Klaviyo customers design, execute, and understand their customer communications across channels. This includes both Flows (automated journeys) and Campaigns (one-time sends)—the core surfaces where over 170,000 brands engage their audiences.

As the Senior Engineering Manager for Orchestrate, you will lead multiple teams responsible for the creation, configuration, execution, and performance insights of these experiences. You’ll play a critical role in shaping the future of multi-channel orchestration—spanning email, SMS, push, and emerging channels—while ensuring our systems scale with the growing needs of our customers.

This is a highly cross-functional and high-impact leadership role. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and other Engineering leaders to define strategy, drive execution, and build a cohesive platform that powers billions of customer interactions.

How You Will Make a Difference
  • Lead and scale multiple engineering teams responsible for Flows and Campaigns configuration, orchestration, and reporting experiences
  • Set technical and organizational direction for Klaviyo’s orchestration platform, including multi-channel delivery, personalization, and scheduling systems
  • Own execution across teams: drive planning, align dependencies, and ensure high-quality delivery across complex, cross-team initiatives
  • Shape the architecture of core orchestration systems, prioritizing scalability, reliability, and extensibility across services and shared platforms
  • Partner with Product and Design leadership to define long-term vision and translate it into intuitive, high-impact customer experiences
  • Drive consistency across Flows and Campaigns, identifying opportunities to unify systems, abstractions, and user experiences
  • Develop and grow engineering managers and senior engineers, building a strong leadership bench and high-performing, inclusive teams
  • Influence broader engineering strategy, contributing to org-wide initiatives in system design, developer experience, and operational excellence
  • Champion engineering excellence through design reviews, technical guidance, and thoughtful tradeoff decisions
  • Identify and invest in platform opportunities that unlock faster product development and innovation across Klaviyo

Who You Are
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with strong fullstack fundamentals
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or multiple teams
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex product areas with significant business impact
  • Strong systems thinker with experience designing and evolving scalable distributed systems
  • Experience building customer-facing SaaS products in fast-paced, product-led environments
  • Comfortable operating at multiple levels: from organizational strategy to technical detail
  • Track record of growing leaders and building high-performing teams
  • Excellent communicator who can align stakeholders across engineering, product, and design
  • Experience with multi-channel systems, personalization, or workflow/orchestration platforms is a plus
  • Familiarity with modern web stacks (React, TypeScript) and backend systems (Go, Python, Django/FastAPI or similar)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), DevOps practices, and distributed systems tooling

AI & Modern Engineering Practices

  • Experience building or integrating AI/ML-powered product features, such as personalization, recommendations, content generation, or decisioning systems
  • Demonstrated ability to identify high-impact opportunities for AI within product experiences and translate them into shipped features
  • Experience leading teams that adopt AI-first engineering practices, including leveraging LLMs and automation tools to accelerate development, testing, and operational workflows
  • Comfortable guiding teams through rapid experimentation with emerging AI tools and paradigms, while ensuring responsible and secure usage
