Job Description

Our team at Teledyne LeCroy develops leading edge test and measurement products. Engineering teams around the globe use our systems to develop next generation high-performance communication, consumer electronics and computer products.

We are looking for a self-driven and talented Senior Logic Design Engineer to join our global engineering team developing wireless protocol test products. 

You should be open minded, quick learner and able to understand and define complex architectures and solutions related to wireless technology.

You will participate in engineering effort to conceive, design, implement and test industry’s leading-edge test and measurement products for serial protocols technologies. You will work with multiple teams within our engineering team and across departments, including Product Management, Application engineering, Operations and Validation teams. 

Through hands-on learning, studying technical specifications, interacting with peers and end-users, and mentoring, you will extend your expertise in serial data protocols and in our instruments that test and validate these protocols, enabling you to be part of a leading expert team in this field.

This is a contract position.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and test FPGA circuitry for next generation Test and Measurement Tools:

  • Define logic architecture of various blocks of the design.
  • Design these blocks using Verilog and verify their block level functionality through simulation.
  • Document the design and review with the rest of the team.
  • Drive FPGA tools to compile the code and ensure timing closure.
  • Verify proper operation of your circuit via system level test with test hardware.
  • Work with the verification engineer to validate your circuit in a whole chip simulation environment.

Work with customer support to reproduce and fix issues found in the field:

  • Reproduce customer environment to reproduce any failures found in the field.
  • Fix the RTL, recompile the FPGA and review the changes with the team.

Lead a small team of engineers:

  • Making sure the team successfully completes project requirements.
  • Ensure team meets committed deadlines.
  • Maintain FPGA repository and build environment.
  • Monitor team’s progress.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors in Electronics or Computer Engineering – a must
  • Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in FPGA or ASIC design.
  • Proficient with MATLAB for defining polyphase filters required for SDR development.
  • Proficient with developing software defined radios (SDR) using FPGA DSP blocks.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills – a must!
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of FPGA tools such as Quartus, Xilinx/Vivado, Modelsim, Signal tap, and Chipscope.
  • Open minded, quick learner, creative, likes challenges.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Monitoring and/or Test & Measurement tools.
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented design is a plus.
  • Experience with Wireless communication protocols, such as Bluetooth, 802.11 (Wi-Fi), 802.15.4.
