What's the role?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team, providing essential legal support for our operations in China. In this role, you will be instrumental in negotiating and drafting complex commercial and technology agreements, advising on IP and licensing matters, and handling a variety of legal issues ranging from regulatory compliance to risk management. You will advise local management, support various business units in the Greater China Sales team and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure all legal and regulatory obligations are met.


You will be a member of the APAC Legal Commercial Transactions Team and be part of the Global Legal Team of highly qualified and experienced lawyers located around the world.


Your main responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex technology agreements and IP-related transactions in China, and other APAC regions when needed.
  • Providing strategic and practical legal advice to local management with expertise on privacy, compliance, regulatory, and corporate law matters.
  • Offering legal guidance on sales contracting, ensuring all agreements align with legal and business objectives.
  • Providing legal support on all IP-related matters, including SaaS, PaaS, partnership, and licensing transactions and IP rights in Greater China.
  • Assisting with dispute resolution, litigation, and regulatory investigations as needed.
  • Collaborating with internal business and cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance, Professional Services, and Business Operations to resolve complex commercial, operational, compliance, regulatory, legal, and customer/vendor issues.
  • Reviewing and drafting internal governance policies and supporting corporate governance initiatives.
  • Conducting legal and compliance training for business teams to ensure understanding of key issues.
  • Providing strategic legal support tailored to the Greater China market with the potential to expand into other APAC markets.
Who are you?

You are a strong candidate for this role if you possess the following skills, qualifications, competencies and experience


  • Lawyer under Chinese laws with 10+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Broad legal expertise with experience in privacy, regulatory and corporate law in Greater China, as well as transactional matters (e.g., sales contracts, IP/IT laws).
  • Overseas LLM or other foreign qualifications or experience is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Proven track record in the technology industry. Experience in autonomous driving, AI/ML, and cloud platform services are nice to have.
  • Experience with negotiating, drafting, and advising on complex commercial agreements related to software licensing, cloud services, professional services, and technical support.
  • Prior work experience with a reputable international law firm or in-house at a global company is valued.
  • Familiarity with handling commercial, regulatory, IP, data protection, and compliance issues.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English
