We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Leave & Accommodation Senior Specialist to lead the administration of FMLA, WA Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML), ADA accommodations, and related leave and benefit programs. Supporting a dedicated workforce of 800+, you will serve as our internal expert on complex leave laws (FMLA, WA PFML, ADA), and key benefit programs. This is a critical role that balances technical compliance with a compassionate, employee-centered approach.

Key Role

As the Leave & Accommodation Sr. Specialist, you will serve as the expert on complex leave issues, Workers’ comp, and disability accommodation requests. You will be responsible for overseeing and administering employee leaves, accommodations requests, and support administration of health and welfare benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life insurance, and COBRA. The Leaves & Accommodation Sr. Specialist will also act as the functional lead for our HRIS (ADP), building custom reports, and analyzing data to provide actionable insights for agency leadership.

Responsibilities

Leave of Absence Administration

  • Administer federal, state, and company leave programs including FMLA, WA PFML, parental leave, and disability.
  • Guide employees through eligibility, documentation, timelines, and return‑to‑work processes.
  • Maintain accurate tracking, notifications, and confidential files.

ADA & Workplace Accommodations

  • Lead the interactive process under ADA and applicable state disability laws.
  • Review medical documentation and collaborate with managers to determine reasonable accommodations.
  • Monitor accommodations for effectiveness and maintain thorough documentation.

Benefits Program Support

  • Support administration of health and welfare benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life insurance, and COBRA.
  • Assist employees with escalated benefit questions and troubleshoot eligibility or enrollment issues.
  • Partner with vendors to resolve complex benefit cases.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensures strict adherence to employment laws. Oversees the entire Worker's Compensation program, manages complex investigations, and partners with Safety/Risk departments to reduce incidents.

Data-driven Decision Making

  • Utilizes HR metrics, dashboards, and workforce analytics to inform strategic planning and improve organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • BA in Human Resource Management, Business or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of deep experience in benefits and leave administration, including FMLA, PFML, ADA, and Workers’ Comp. are a must.
  • Technology focused and driven, HRIS database (ADP preferred) with a knack for troubleshooting data feeds and improving digital workflows.
  • A strong grasp of ACA mandates, non-discrimination testing, and state/federal labor laws.
  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least 6 years of experience in benefits and leave administration
  • Deep experience with FMLA, PFML, ADA, and workers’ compensation
  • Experience with HRIS databases; ADP preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot data feeds and improve digital workflows
