Brief Job Description: 

As an MCAD Designer, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary Engineering team on Sustaining & VAVE activities for Switchgear products. Your role involves designing mechanical solutions, primarily sheet metal design and development of switchgear enclosures, components, and assemblies while ensuring optimal performance and reliability, while coordinating with Suppliers, Procurement, and production to align with product marketing inputs. You will create and review CAD drawings, specifications, and bills of material, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, environmental, and timeline objectives. Additionally, you will analyze and resolve product-related technical issues, optimizing designs to simplify assembly, reduce costs, and enhance quality, all while demonstrating strong CAD skills and attention to detail.

  • Design mechanical solutions (sheet metal, switchgear enclosures) in collaboration with suppliers, Procurement, and Industrial Engineering.
  • Create and review CAD drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Achieve objectives for cost, quality, and timelines, balancing market and internal customer needs.
  • Analyze and resolve product-related technical issues, improving designs to simplify assembly, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
  • Strong CAD skills with attention to detail.
  • Work with Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Suppliers on component selection.
  • Manage marketing requests and team collaboration.
  • Update product BOMs, ensuring compliance with production schedules.
  • Manage Master Items BOMs in Oracle as ODIS, handling data entry, maintenance, and structure naming conventions.
  • Enhance Oracle processes for part creation, BOMs, and configuration management.
  • Ensure accurate, consistent data entry in Oracle and PLM.
  • Support Oracle Configurator capabilities.
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis of switchgear enclosures 
  • Design sheet metal components and bus bar systems 
  • Ensure designs meet IP ratings and environmental requirements 
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on integrated solutions 
  • Develop and maintain mechanical design standards 
  • Participate in prototype development and testing 
  • Support manufacturing team with technical guidance 
  • Review vendor submissions and coordinate with suppliers 
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in existing products 
  • Calculate solution costs with Engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with ITC regulations, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

Required/ Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Technical Skills: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the Switchgear sector. 
  • Must have knowledge of light structural work processing and a good understanding of refrigeration principles. 
  • Proficient in 3D/2D CAD (PTC Creo, Solid Edge), PLM systems, and Microsoft Office. 
  • Familiar with management computer systems, technical norms, and BOM structure/configurations. 
  • Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM principles
  • Understanding of mechanical assembly processes 
  • Experience with thermal management solutions
  • Process Skills: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • English: Fluent preferred; intermediate acceptable.
  • Professionalism: Accuracy, results-oriented, good planning, and information management.
  • Teamwork: Mandatory teamwork attitude.
  • Communication: Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative: Works independently, motivated to take on new challenges.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • Technical Skills: Good understanding of switchgear products and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Process Skills: Strong focus on continuous improvement and structural process capabilities.
  • Communication: Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative: Works independently with strong motivation to take on new challenges.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates accuracy, results-oriented mindset, and professional demeanor in all tasks.
