Sr. Director, Legal (Corporate & Commercial)

We're Looking For A: Sr. Director, Legal (Corporate & Commercial) to lead the Corporate and Commercial pillars of Golden Hippo's Legal team by designing, executing, supporting and enhancing team processes as we evolve the Legal function to scale with our growing vertically integrated consumer products business.
Location: Hybrid (Office located in Woodland Hills, CA)
What You'll Be Doing:

• Manage all corporate affairs of Golden Hippo, including board and shareholder meetings, subsidiary formation and governance, financings, and our Employee Stock Ownership Plan and similar programs in collaboration with our People team.
• Draft, revise and negotiate commercial contracts, including SaaS/software agreements, staffing agreements, consultant agreements, lease agreements, manufacturing agreements, retail agreements and promotional services agreements with our product "gurus".
• Serve as a key partner to the business by guiding product development and marketing activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including in relation to the marketing and sale of our products internationally and via new retail channels.
• Lead, develop and manage a three-person team supporting contracts administration and product & marketing advice and counseling.
• Manage workflow and bandwidth across the team to meet internal and external stakeholder needs, including coordinating with business leads to understand strategy and priorities.
• Set and enforce the risk levels acceptable to Golden Hippo through appropriate reviews and approvals and ownership of our knowledge bank and playbooks.
• Collaborate with other members of the Legal team, including those responsible for employment, intellectual property, dispute resolution and litigation, as well as other departments to help grow, mentor and learn from others.
• Enhance processes to support increased efficiency and compliance, including by evolving intake processes; drafting, maintaining and updating templates; driving efficient workflows; and tracking resolution of key issues as they arise.

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don't tick ALL of these boxes.):

• 7-10+ years' experience in a Legal leadership role.
• 7+ years' experience managing corporate matters and complex commercial transactions
• 5+ years' management experience, including leading teams in multiple locations.
• Experience working in Adtech, DTC and/or consumer products businesses.
• Experience in scaling a fast growing organization (international experience a plus)
• Experience working in large size organization (revenues greater than $800 million)
• High emotional intelligence with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, credibility and trust with stakeholders, peers and colleagues across the organization.
• Superior attention to detail and organizational skills with a passion for developing infrastructure to scale with a company as it grows, including experience designing, implementing and evolving corporate governance and contract lifecycle processes.
• Experience managing relationships with directors and shareholders as well as external stakeholders, and tracking and meeting key deadlines for disclosure and other compliance obligations.
• Ability to structure, draft and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts for a vertically integrated direct-to-consumer (DTC) consumer products business, including finding creative solutions to manage Golden Hippo's risk.
• Business-oriented approach to problem-solving and ability to provide pragmatic advice with a proven track record of presenting issues, options and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to manage highly fluid workload throughout any given day by seamlessly coordinating work across the team, researching and analyzing solutions, and communicating and evolving priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication (including presentation) skills.
• Ability to work well autonomously and cross-functionally within a team and other departments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Highest level of business and personal integrity and ethical standards.

The base salary range is $225,000 - $250,000, plus annual & monthly KPI bonus potential.
The posted salary range in this job posting reflects data based on California's cost of labor analysis. This salary range is subject to change per state; please click here to find the pay differential in your state of residence if the role is remote.
