Job Description
As a senior member of ServiceNow's Corporate Strategy team, the Sr Director will help shape ServiceNow's Ambition, GTM Strategy and help drive Business and Corporate Development in Japan. You will partner closely with senior global, regional, and local executives (including Japan President and MD) to define & operationalize high impact strategies and hyper-growth initiatives, strategic partner discussions, customer engagements, and annual planning cycles. This role is critical in continuously defining and communicating Japan's growth strategy, building inorganic growth through partnerships and M&A, and refining GTM approaches to achieve accelerated growth in Japan's unique market environment.
Strategy projects will vary from short-term market investigations to long-term programs focused on evaluating areas such as adjacent market opportunities, new market entry, formulating strategic priorities and operational plans, conducting market and customer research to drive new opportunities for growth, uncovering customer and competitive insights, leading strategic partnership discussions, and driving business initiatives. Typical projects require the ability to work in global cross-functional teams comprising of leaders from various business units and functional groups. You will be required to support business development activities (identifying potential partners, business negotiation, and long-term planning) with strategic customers, and partners in the region.
In this role, you will work on highly complex problems, gain insight into the strategic and operational issues which are forefront in the minds of the leadership team, have exposure to C-level decision making, and establish relationships with senior stakeholders across the entire company.
We are looking for a Sr Director, who is an effective influencer, knowledgeable about the Enterprise Tech in Japan, who can rapidly demonstrate impact and value to the organization. The candidate must excel in all areas of strategy development and execution including: strategic analysis, problem solving, executive communication, business development, consensus building, and people development with a high degree of ownership. The candidate must be able to function well in a high growth, fast paced environment and will be comfortable with ambiguous situations.
Responsibilities:
- Work on key strategic projects for ServiceNow Japan GK; work cross functionally to structure problems, develop hypotheses, conduct analyses to turn data into meaningful insights, and drive solutions and actionable recommendations and results through a rigorous, data-driven process
- Develop strategic and business cases working with cross-functional teams outlining business opportunity, rationale, and operational plans to capture the opportunity including product, GTM strategies, and business model
- Conduct complex analysis for root cause analysis and decision making associated with total addressable market, investment requirement, topline impact and ROI assessment
- Define and continuously communicate Japan growth strategy aligned with FY26+ planning cycles; monitor competitive landscape and partner ecosystem dynamics to inform strategic recommendations
- Build inorganic growth strategies including strategic partnership development, M&A evaluation, and ecosystem investments; design and execute customized business plans with strategic customers and partners
- Lead GTM strategy refinement for Japan market, including vertical expansion (Public Sector, Healthcare, Financial Services), segmented planning (Enterprise, Commercial, Mid-market), and partner-led revenue acceleration strategies
- Support Annual Operating Plan (AOP) development and quarterly business reviews for Japan; partner with regional leadership to translate strategic priorities into executable plans with clear KPIs and accountability frameworks
- Support senior executives in developing key presentations for internal and external audiences, including Board of Directors meetings and analyst conferences
- Uncover areas within the business to drive performance improvements to unlock productivity and accelerate execution
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- 15+ Years of experience with at least 5 years post-MBA experience with a top-tier management consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.)
- Strong interest and preferably experience working in enterprise technology / SaaS domains. Preferred candidates will also have deep go-to-market operating experience within Enterprise Software and Technology in Japan
- Experience with inorganic growth strategies including partnerships, M&A evaluation, and ecosystem development; demonstrated ability to build and manage strategic partner relationships in Japan market
- Experience working on large strategic initiatives from framing the problem, conducting research and analysis, building business and operational plans, and driving execution through to success; ability to multitask
- Strong communicator, able to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing, comfort in business and technical discussions with global and local stakeholders
- Effective at building relationships, collaborating, and influencing others; experience working with senior executives across various geographies and functions
- Strong people development and influencing skills; able to build and drive extended and virtual teams
- Strong team player who is also an independent thinker
- Strong analytical and financial skills to work on complex business issues with minimum supervision
- Self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment
- Native/Advanced language skills - English and Japanese - is mandatory
- Education:
- MBA from a top-tier program
- Bachelor's degree with strong academic performance. Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline appreciated
