We’re looking for the right hands-on technical leader who wants to catapult our Life Insurance business into next level performance.
As a Senior Consultant, Software Engineer – AI Engineering (Life) you’ll be on point to design, build, and run agentic AI workflows that materially improve how we sell, underwrite, and service Life business. Reporting directly to the VP of Life Technology, you’ll work side-by-side with the Life AI Product Owner and AI Capability Center to build agentic solutions that turn bold ideas into production-grade AI solutions aligning with enterprise agentic strategy, governance, and guardrails. This role demands a strong software engineering and architecture background, experience with modern AI platforms and tools, and strong communication skills to work with partners and mentor / influence other engineers as they adopt AI in their products and daily work. You'll leverage spec driven development and AI copilots as a force multiplier.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Influence: strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate ideas, drive strategy, and build momentum.
- Applied Innovation: designing, building, and operating technologies such as AI to improve speed, quality, and customer/associate experience across the Life portfolio (e.g., new business, underwriting, policy administration, service, analytics).
- Hands-on engineering: ability to build and scale solutions, including architecture, design, coding, configuration, testing, deployment, observability, and continuous improvement.
- Champions a growth mindset and new ways of working, including modern team structures and automation-first approaches.
- Mentor/Coach: interfaces with other delivery lines/JET teams across the Life business to expand and encourage use of Agentic solutions; building AI practices into and across the organization.
This will be a hybrid role based out of the Columbus, OH office. The team comes into the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Mentors and trains others on design techniques, tools and coding standards.
Executes and provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Drives continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Works across organizations and product areas to drive joint technical roadmaps.
Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Director or above.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience: Eight or more years of analysis and technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Hands on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in multiple programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Extensive knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
